Even if it was only Norwich, that was a great game to watch. If it's an indication of the levels of pace and technique that we'll combine, or try to, every week then I'm very happy.

Gunter's technique looked really good to me, but I thought his tactical awareness and intelligence stood out even more. Dos Santos is ridiculously skillful, and effervescent in attitude (obviously) - and what an advantage it could be to have that kind of enthusiasm in place of what would have been Robbie's sulking. I'm pretty sure we've replaced Keane already and improved upon him with Gio.

Suprised with Dos Santos & Bent, both making a huge claim for starting positions when the season ends.

Perfect aspirin to the Berbatov and Keane headache!

Hopefully Ramos can mold DB into the type of player Kanoute became at Seviila, now that`s an exciting prospect!

Go DB!

Seriously, people still knocking Bent after banging in four, what the hell?! If its true that Ramos is going to play one upfront, Bent will flourish. I don't understand why some people have such a problem with that. As for the overall, it was a first proper friendly against Norwich, so no big shakes, but the quality of that last goal, and the sight of Gunter overlapping to such good effect, bodes well.

What a joy to see Gomes throwing the ball out to our players instead of the usual hopeful punt from Robinson, which meant we controlled the ball more.

Well it would be a big plus if he could create few places to other players too

nope doesnt need to he is a lone striker but did you actually see the game last night, he chased a lot down passed around well set lennon and dos santos on runs and held the ball up when it was needed. i was at the game in the spurs section block G right where all the action happened in the second half and he was brilliant.

Im getting a bit tired really with people putting down all our players and not logically thinking before posting . Hes already proven he can score in the prem for a lesser team and also as a lone striker. If people doubt he can do it for spurs then they really have something wrong going on in their head.

A question for those who watched the game ...

*If* berbs were to stay, how would you play him?
- Alongside Bent?
- In place of Bent?
- Stick him on the bench until he showed some passion for the shirt?

I didn't think O'Hara played that well in the first half. We seemed to start off with a diamond in midfield and he was slow to get over to assist Gilberto when he had the ball and to track back a couple of times. He didn't see a single tackle that he didn't like the look of and improved as the game went on. Modric was very neat and tidy. He was playing quick one or two touch football along with Dos Santos. They are both very capable of quick movement in tight areas and will cause teams problems passing and moving. I thought Modric worked hard defensively as well as his off ball movement. Bent did make some good runs in the first half and at times we were too slow to get him the ball. His movement did improve as the game went on and his confidence grew. I thought Dos Santos showed what he could do in bursts in the first half, but also had very quiet periods. In the second half he was outstanding and linked well with Lennon who I also thought looked very sharp. Dos Santos was the best player on the pitch for me and it was a shame he didn't get the goal his performance warranted. I think he is going to provide us with plenty of viewing pleasure once he settles in the premier league. He also looks good enough to play any attacking position so he offers lots of options.

It was nice to see Assou-Ekotto play again. I thought he looked very good going forward, but that has never been a problem. It will be interesting to see what happens when he is tested defensively. If he had the determination then he could be a very good player indeed. Bale had a couple of nice moments, but he certainly seemed to be lacking in sharpness. I think that is only to be expected considering his long lay off. It will be interesting to see if Ramos slots him in at the back or puts he further forward initially. I thought Gunter looked solid. Lennon's delivery into the box was decent. Overall, we kept possession very well at times, particularly in the second half and caused Norwich to run out of steam chasing the ball. The quick one or two touch stuff from Modric and Dos Santos is certainly a real contrast to Zokora and Jenas in particular. There is certainly more to come, but there were some encouraging signs.

People need to show some support for Bent, everyone goes on about Huntelaar but Dazza would score just as many goals given a run in the team. Good win, and we can hopefully build on this in the feyenoord tournament. Also I think as some people have rightly pointed out o hara is a very good player to have, versatile and hard working with real potential. I can imagine the people saying he's not good enough saying the same about Barry 5 years ago.

It was, but now we have players who will work the ball forward quickly instead of sideways, sideways, sideways and back to the keeper. Robbo tended to hoof the ball upfield rather less whenever the Hudd was on.

It might have been mentioned already, but anyone think Bent played with a freedom last night maybe down to the fact that Berbs wasnt with him? some players can almost be scared of making mistakes next to other players ie Andy Cole with Cantona?

Why does Cantona always play with his collar up?

Because he's got a dirty neck.

Why has he got a dirty neck?

Because he's been carrying Cole all season.

Boom! Boom!

It's a possibility.

Glad to see the virtual new signings, i.e King, Bale get some minutes under their belts. I was worried if they would be fit enough to start the season, but now i'm quite relieved.

Those who still feel pessimistic about this season should see this:

Modic replaces Tanio,
GDS for Keane,
Hutton for Chimbonda,
Gomes for Robbo,
plus Bostock, recuperating Bent and hopefully a few more quality signings.

I know GDS still has a long way to prove himself, but potentially he should come as good if not better than Keane (not counting a possibility of another top striker coming in).

I say bring on the Boro.

Good reply from the team to Keane transfer. Bent showed what he can do, hope he continues. We all know that he has potential. Giovani was immense, what a signing! Bring on world-class DM and striker, and get rid of players who don't want to play in Spurs!

I think GDS was easily the best player, although Lennon was on fire.

Out possession play and quick, one-touch football was outstanding.
