I was only opposed to Bellamy because of his injury record. He has, to be sure, been a bit of a knob, but hardly in the Barton class (he hasn't, as far as I'm aware, tried to kill a team-mate)—and he is a very good player indeed, highly underrated.

Ah yes I forgot about the injuries as well.

As far trying to kill a team mate goes, attacking riise with a golf club might be seen as attempted murder under s1(1) criminal attempts act 1981, as he satisfies the actus reus in attacking the dude, and I think it is safe to say that he probably had the mindset of wanting to cause at least GBH, which would satisfy the mens rea.

Like I said, happier with both Keane and Defoe.

True, although theres still a lot of good (probably better than us) teams involved, but also with all those teams going out it also shows that theres no shame in going out at this stage. What is more worrying is, as has been said, is the attitude towards Europe as a burden - I mean technically right now it was, but... it was also nice to see young players going for it in our colours, and I don't think they looked out of their depth against a decent side (not an amazing one but certainly one comfy on the ball).

Maybe it comes down to being too cautious in the first leg, had we just had a bit more cutting edge up front today (aside from the crap ref) we would have won - but we were a little on the back foot in the first leg although it looked until late on that we'd escape with a 0-0.

And who cares about the odds, we're always well up there in the betting every year for UEFA (weren't we 2nd or 3rd favs at the outset), Cups, even the League because the bookies know a fool and their money are easily parted...

Check Redknapp's interview on Spurs TV. If people actually listened to what he said, it's transparently clear that he would have loved us to progress, but he's stuck between a rock and a hard place, as the cliché goes. Unfortunately, something's got to give.

well, there was the incident with the golf club and Riise, but I heard he was only trying to help him with his slice.

Why does prioritising mean that Harry doesn't care about the Uefa cup.

1st priority to be playing in the Prem next season.

2nd priority to win the CC.

3rd priority to continue in the Uefa cup.

What Harry was complaining about was the fixture congestion, and any of you who don't agree with those piorities are gunner scum. Give Harry a f**king chance, we've tried the foreign managers and it didn't work out so lets give our manager a bit of time, and please wait until he f**ks up before slaughtering him.

Not sure about that 57 , He says in his beeb interview that ' Its been a good week '

Prediction: Redknapp will never lift a European trophy with us

Harry's priorities - lge - final - uefa- were the right priorities

at this stage we needed the three points at Hull, more than being in the last 16 of UEFA and two tough ties with CSKA in the middle of a scary relegation battle had we lost to Hull.

of course we could have beaten both SD & Hull - but we could have lost both too

it was about priorities and Harry's were correct

if we beat Utd then his selections will be further justified, but even if we lose there and get 3 points or more from the two games with boro and mackems that'll do

And how many of our managers in the last 20 years have (with us, as you specify)...?

Again, I'm not 100% convinced about Harry myself (though I'm cautiously optimistic about his tenure here), but I hate it when people make unfair, isolated statements like that one to back up their point-of-view.

What you're saying might well be true, but it should be taken in its proper context of being a wholly unremarkable thing to say about any of our managers in recent (and even not-so-recent years)...

You didn't hear Redknapp saying that either, unless you've been listening to strange voices in your own head. I'd guess this is a possibility.

But I'm sure we should all bow to your many years' experience of managing top-level football teams.

whilst not verbatim I have heard him say this ........ not bothered if the CC came with a European place and I could totally do without the games against SD, the lowest of my priorties is Europe, Europe is a total distraction etc etc so hardly a ringing endorsement for being in Europe now or in the future.

I do the love the old ' are you a top level manager' argument really is brilliant. My guess would be that nobody on this board is so lets close it down as obviously we are all not worthy of contributing ...... pure genius

so we should employ another one whos pedigree is minimal and ambition is limited to continue the trend?

On the issue of penalties, I think if the Shaktar defenders had come on with Uzis and cut Campbell in half inside the penalty area the ref would have booked him for simulating bleeding to death.

Two questions for you mate;

1.When was the last manager to lift a Euro trophy with us?

2.Which Premiership managers outside of the "Big Four" has won a European trophy?

I don't think he was one of those singled out for special praise, but apart from the goal why would he have been?

Well first off, you're not going to get me to agree that Harry is of minimal pedigree and limited ambition (beyond this season, which if you can't see needed urgent prioritising in the UEFA and FA Cups, then you're never going to). I think Harry wants to be a success in everything he does at Spurs once he gets us on an even keel next season, and while I can't say with any certainty that he'll get there, his track record stands up with any of our managers (in terms of relative success for the teams he was at) in recent years.

We've signed managers with massive, glitzy reputations before and it's all gone tits up (Ramos), so it's pretty much proven that reputations count for nothing in Premiership management, and it's all about how they do with Spurs. So far, Harry has not had enough time in the job to be judged as either a success or a failure, but the reasonable people amongst us will see how it pans out before we go eulogising Harry or painting him as the patron saint of useless management. Why don't you wait and see how he does with us before you go spewing your hate-filled crap?

Or a particularly easy childhood if my standards of hate-filled crap are so easy to reach: think it through, Logic Boy... :hello:

Regardless, I'm sick of people on these boards who have already made their mind up about Harry when he's had not even a sniff of the time that could be considered to be fair in making a judgement on whether he'll do well for Spurs in the future. It's short sighted, it's ignorant, and it's exactly the kind of mentality that has seen us have more Premiership managers than just about any other club, which has put us back years in our development several times.
