I’ve been very much in his camp as from what I saw at Fulham I really liked but having read a lot of posts on here and looked at his career stats I’m inclined to agree it’s either cut losses or loan out.
Since he debuted in 2016 he’s played 162 games in eight seasons which equates to twenty games a season, trouble is he’s only played 24 in the last two seasons and only five games for us.
We gave him a five year contract so we are probably looking at a loan back to a Fulham level club next season just to get him some serious game time to prove his fitness, big concern though is would anyone take him?
A newly promoted team would I bet. With a fairly low ish buy option

Probably going to be looking at a loan in the summer. Either get some fitness back and return at the end of it ready to compete, or sell. I know we got him on a free but it probably makes more sense give him an opportunity to try and get his value back up before making any final decisions.

I think we also need to remember the human side of this. If we cut our losses, what message does that send to the rest of the squad / anyone we're trying to sign - get injured and we get rid? Thinking about the long term development of the club, and just being classy human beings, we have to look after our injured players and make sure we are doing everything we can to help them to return from injury / resurrect their careers etc.

It's a moot point anyway. We won't be able to sell him while his knees are injured - it's not like a small muscle strain. So we'll be supporting his recovery and rehabilitation regardless, as we would any other player.

If he comes back in the final few games of the season I wonder if we could then loan him to a club in a league that plays over summer (Argentina for example) to build up match fitness and sharpness, and then recall him towards the end of preseason. Seems a waste to give him the summer off otherwise if he’s fit and ready by then, and if he would rather take the summer off than play I’d be questioning his mentality.

The chances are we only signed him because he was free (or at least him being free was a factor in the decision).

This shouldn't be turning sour (we did arrange a friendly with them and gave them all the gate money iirc) but what exactly will his grounds be for going to court for compensation? Sounds like a threat but he doesn't have a leg to stand on from a legal point of view - Solomon was a free, out-of-contract player and we signed him under those parameters.

Funny that's come up today given there's a statement from him on the official club Instagram:

I don't think we're going to be seeing him on the pitch again this season.

Even if he returns he's not going to get fit by the end of the season
It's best he just takes his time now and recovers slowly ahead of pre-season

Yeah that's his season over unfortunately. I'd guess we give him a few weeks of pre-season and then make a decision on him. I think he is a useful player to have in the squad but he will need to prove he can stay fit so perhaps a loan till next January would be beneficial for everyone. If we keep Werner I'm not sure he will get much game time.

He has missed a lot of games with knee injuries over the last two seasons. There is a chance he will never reach his potential

Best thing for him might be to simply come back with no expectations and he can build strength and fitness this season and the team can reassess over the summer.
