Hattrick for Darren.

Me like

Also very good to see King, Bale and Modric all playing 45.

Edit: Sorry, completely wrong there, official site was taking ages to update so I was still stuck on 4-1 when I posted.

4 goals for Darren, huzzaaa!

Plus I see that Bale's only playing 30 mins, but still promising.

Bent could possiblt be the man this year if we play with one main striker, and a goal scoring bastard of a midfield.

At 5 - 1 i'm gonna go play GHIII instead - of note:

Bent had an atrocious first half but appears to link up way, way better with BAE and Dosser than with Modric and Lennon. BAE has looked immense; talk about matured - he's been composed and kept his head up, played in a gem to set up Bent's 3rd and generally looked inspiring. O'Hara's got teeth and losing the weight he has, he's gained half a yard of pace, which he needed. Gilberto had flashes of grace but his technique can't hide his lack of pace. Lennon's been inspired by Dosser, i'm sure of it - tearing it up and really getting to the touchline. His cross still needs work, but an improvement on last year from the evidence in this game.

Gunter has been rampaging and i hope that, with Bale in the team and looking such an exciting talent, he'll settle in and give us some real danger running out from the back.

Overall, we started sloppy and our defence was hardly tested, only beaten on a slippery bit of bad luck, but i hope with Woodie and Hutton in there, we'll be seen as a bit more defensive.

Midfield still looks a bit lightweight but the change in pace after the break does make me wonder what Wendy/Marco said in the break

I'm buzzing tonight. Our passing just got better and better as the game went on. Bent thrived when he had midfielders further upfield in support, rather than when he was alone up front in the 1st half. Guntar looks really good, and a relief after the Hutton injury. Lennon looked sharp tonight. Modric looked really comfortable on the ball and played some sublime through balls. Gomes looked uncomfortable on his left foot, but had no real problems and made a good save in the 2nd half. His distribution helped us keep possession better from the back. Huddlestone looks like he could be very capable cover at CB. Giovani was the star of the show, he'll be a big star st Spurs.

Early days yet, but we're coming on well. I hope we tie up a couple of transfers ahead of the Celtic game and get them gelling together.

Only just watching this, having recorded it earlier.

It looks like we're going to be an extremely dangerous on the break this coming season. Our players look svelte and fast.

Although we've sadly lost a 'fan's favourite' today in Robbie Keane, I believe we already have two players (in replacement) who will both become massive stars for the club. Keane out, with GDS and Modric in. I think I can live with that.

ok just got home

Bent played really well second half, he harrased a lot and was very clinical, when lennon and bale where on the link up play improved.

We where very threatening with dos santos, bale, lennon and bent. It was a great sight and im glad Bent got a few as im hopeing he will be our main striker and prove people wrong

Ekotto was great at left back, seemed very calm and made some great moves up the left wing also gilberto looked good on the left. Its great to see some left footers in the team. Modric had some nice moves and looks like he will do well but he played mainly in the first half and we where fairly poor in the first part.

All in all a great game interesting formation and seems like ramos is trying out the 4-5-1 setup or at least something like that

Well, the ball hardly got to him—he was making the runs but no-one was picking them out. Once the others got the hang of it he did the business. Nice to see those who have been banging on about him forcing us to play Route One have been shown to be talking out of their arses.

Yeah, it was only Norwich—and those who've been banging on about Huntelaar should note that Norwich would probably be a top ten side in the Eredivisie.

Unfortunately Virgin lost Setanta three times in the second half, but that was one peach of a cross from BAE.

Yep, seems he has the same relationship with Modric as he had with Lennon, Jenas, Zokora and Dimi last year, but it looks like he runs at the same kind of pace as Dosser and if BAE can produce that kind of composure when it matters then we've got a real promising wingback in him

Wasn't one for a big team show but a few players really shone. Modric barely got much to do, running around in the middle, being boxed in a fair bit whereas Giovanni was romping about, as was Gunter - how much confidence did that young Welsh boy have, charging forward so often? Like him, he's got a bright future in the prem if he keeps that up too, and at such a young age too.

All good signs for me, just have to wait for the Roma game to see our defence really get some pressure. Tonight's did well, but i see Hutton, Woodie, King and Bale starting against the Italians.

Well that was just what i needed after todays news! was really impressed with Dos Santos and i hope now Bent gets some confidence and can keep scoring.

I like O'Hara in CM as well. Great all round performace, and although King only played 45 mins and also made a big mstake it was just great to see him back. Allthough we have sold some players, having Bale, King and Assou-Ekotto back fit is like having three new players.

Im excited about the new season again!! Would love it if we finish above Liverpool!!

Just come back from the game.

Gomes didn't have much to do apart from a couple of crosses and made a good save at the end.
Gunter looked fantastic. One of our best players. if he plays like that I'm not worried about Hutton getting injured. Solid, defensively and offensively.
Dawson and Ledley both looked a bit shakey to be honest, particularly Ledley with the goal, but was some misfortune there, too. Mind I suppose it's not the result right now it's just getting as much minutes and practice as possible right now, particularly in King's case.
Gilberto looked ok, but didn't track back too well (sorry Brasil_Spur).
Jenas had a very good game, great link up, got stuck in and plenty of energy as always.
O'Hara had a very good game too. Looked stronger, quicker and more experienced. Tried a bit of skill and failed, bless him.
Zokora didn't have too much work really as he played 75 minutes at centre half but was solid enough I guess.
Modric was very impressive. It was the first I'd really seen him play and his touch, passing and vision is brilliant. Also seemed to be quite physical and able to hold his own, for a little guy.
Dos Santos was the best player I thought. The lad looks fantastic and will be a world beater. Pacey, skillful, fantastic passing and vision, just excited me every time he was on the ball. Played in the whole behind Benty.
Bent did virtually nothing in the first half, probably because he didn't get much service but he got a couple of very nice finishes, particularly his first and header. Robbie Keane, who?

Huddlestone seemed more mobile and definately looked as though he'd lost some pounds. Passing was excellent.
Assou Ekotto - Great to see him back, still very quick with good feet and a sweet left peg. Great cross for Bent's second.
Bale looked very sharp considering his lack of match practice. Very quick still and put some nice balls in the box. Linked up well in the centre a few times, too.
Lennon looked a different player compared to the end of last season! Brilliant, he's certainly re-found his form and his sharp feet. Linked up very well with GDS, Gunter, Bent and O'Hara.

Was a great atmosphere too. Loads of Spurs all over the ground, the sun shining and great football to watch. Did anyone see the Norwich fan holding up a gooner shirt to the right of the Spurs section, he was up against the wall near us?

Pretty much what I got from the box, allowing for fucking Virgin going down for most of the second half. At least an irate call to their helpline threatening to switch providers got me the promise of an engineer tomorrow.

So pleased that Bent and BAE, who've come in for totally unwarranted shit on here, had great games. O'Hara too. And that was an absolutely awesome tackle JJ put in. Hopefully the new arrivals have rattled his cage and made him realise this is the season he's got to step up.

I just don't think Jamie O Hara is good enough to be a regular player or sub for us. Sure he works hard, but he isn't a particulary good footballer! He is the type of player West Ham fans would addore, hard work over tallent. Watching the game tonight so much of the quick passing and fast paced game broke up around him. In defence of him, he is young, but I just don't see him developing into anything near of the level we should be looking at.

Good summary Brett, thats what i saw too.

Gio looks a real handful and should bag a fair few goals this season by the looks of it. He likes a shot!!

Gunter impressed me too, and Bents finishing was excellent, i dont think berba or keane wouldve finished those 4 chances like bent did!

Good-oh! After a handful of games, mostly out of position, you (and several others) conclude that he's shit.

I don't think he'll ever be a regular starter (but I could be wrong). He is, however, potentially as good as some of the cartel's 'bitsa' players—think O'Shea and Fletcher, for starters.

Luckily, Ramos seems to rate him.
