Difficult to have much of a say untill we know who our manager is, what competition we're in, whether players turn sour and want to leave, whether our players have a good world cup or not, and with that in mind what offers there'll be for our players - take Paulinho as an example. People are unsure if he'll turn out good or not in english football. A poor world cup and we'll make a loss on him, a very good world cup and we could double our money or even have a new manager wanting to keep him on.

Hate to say this, but I think we should look to sign Ashley Cole who's out of contract.
We all dream of getting our hands on Luke Shaw and him turning into Bale II.
But Cole is probably more doable deal - think what you want about him but he's experienced, a proven winner and a strong character to have around.

Friedel and Gomes will leave, whatever Lloris does we'll be looking for new ones either way.
Levy likely to listen to offers on Adebayor as we're paying his full wages from the summer,
and Soldado if he doesn't look more likely to settle in english football.

As many have said we have a lot of midfielders, too many of them similiar style of players.
Think we need to rearrange a bit.
Would love for us to be in a position where we can only add a player of highest quality and that's it.
But I fear we'll be in a situation where we again must be very active in the transfer window.

Are my (F)oreign, home grown (HG) & U21 correct?

Some will still be U21: Archer, Kane
Sigurdsson is actually considered home grown,
as nationality doesn't matter, it's whether he was with an english/welsh club for three years or more between the age of 15 and 21 that determine his status.
Hence, Holtby will also be considered foreign despite having an english father.
Carroll is a senior player next season [HG]
Falque def [F], more unsure on Ceballos

I think getting vdv back would be immense. I couldnt care less if he can only play 70mins, because the guy drags the team around single handedly and wins games on his own.

Love Rafa, but ..
Tell that to the Hamburg fans who are in fear of relegation this season.
Rafa isn't the player he once was, and even with us he was often considered a 60 minutes man.
Wouldn't say it's someone to build around. More that little extra bit of quality that can have an impact on games.

Difficult to know who is realistic coming in until we know the manager for next season really, but going out, I would like:

Friedel (retired/or offered coaching job)
Dawson
Kaboul (don't think he'll ever manage a full season, need to rebuild)
Naughton
Siggy
Lennon
Soldado

Manager: Louis van Gaal

With his 4141 / 2323 formation in mind

GK: Hugo Lloris?, Kasper Schmeichel (Jordan Archer)

RB: Kyle Walker, Ryan Fredericks (Alex McQueen)
CB1: Winston Reid, Michael Dawson (Cameron Carter-Vickers)
CB2: Jan Vertonghen?, Vlad Chiriches, Zeki Fryers (Milos Veljkovic)
LB: Ashley Cole, Danny Rose (Connor Ogilvie)

DM: Sandro, Etienne Capoue? (Laste Dombaxe)

RW: Erik Lamela?, Andros Townsend (Kenneth McEvoy, Emmanuel Sonupe)
CM1: Paulinho, Mousa Dembele? (Harry Winks)
CM2: Christian Eriksen, Tom Carroll (Nabil Bentaleb, Josh Onomah, Musa Yahaya, William Miller)
LW: Yevhen Konoplianka, Nacer Chadli (Alex Pritchard, Nathan Oduwa)

FW: Emmanuel Adebayor?, Roberto Soldado? (Harry Kane, Shaq Coulthirst, Souleymane Coulibaly)

? are players I'm unsure whether we either should or could keep.
(U21)
Two bosmans in Schmeichel and Cole. One overpriced but proven centre back in Reid.
One super star signing that will give us a threat going forward.

Not too big of a squad, space for youth to come through

Orjan Nyland and Alex McCarthy are other back up goalie options. If we need a new #1: Begovic, Krul etc.
Swiss duo Fabian Schär and Ricardo Rodriguez would be incredible alternatives to Reid and Cole.
In an ideal world I'd rather have Kovacic than Dembele.
While if Lamela, Adebayor, Soldado leave - one could dream of Yarmolenko, Benteke and Mandzukic (could be pushed out at Bayern) to take their places. A beast in the middle (Benteke/Mandzukic) and the two free flowing ukrainean magicians on either side would be something.

Ashley Cole is still a class player, but would worry about the big contract he would require and the fact that his
ankle hasn't allowed him to train properly for a fair few years now.

What is the going rate for Shaw?

I'd pay it, with no intention of trying to profit greatly on a future sale.

Not sure what he would cost but probably not as much as Soldado or Lamela, or even what we almost spent on Willian

I thought City were going to pay about £30m for him and Fernando on Jan deadline day but the deal fell apart. Fernando's out of contract in the summer so the bulk of the doe would've been for Mangala

A lb, passing cm,lw are the main one's for me all for the first team. a back up GK will also be needed obviously. I'm purposely ignoring the CB's cos I hope Verts stays and Kaboul's ok, if not then we'll have to address that situation.

I'd like us to shrink the squad a bit and use more of our kids, I really really hope if we sell squad players we don't replace them with more squad players. Use the kids where possible, fuck lining agents pockets, keep the wage bill down as well as hopefully increase the squad harmony with less full internationals sweating over their international place due to lack of playing time but hungry youngsters pleased to get an opportunity to show what they can do.

the thing with the sales comes down to interest from other clubs and Levy's negotiating
