A good move. I doubt he will go straight into the starting eleven, but definately worth having on the bench.

Pleased to hear this, he looked good in pre-season and I'd like to see him in the team alongide Palacios.

Was previously hoping for Bostock to get a chance (and still would) but if Livermore had been available at the time I would have also mentioned him.

But would playing him be a better option than say, putting Charlie in midfield and Walker or Benny at RB? (Genuine question as I don't really know how good Livermore is).

Personally i prefer to keep players in their natural position. But like you, i haven't seen enough of Livermore to be sure. Maybe he is only coming back as cover. If we pick up another knock, or Palacios gets suspended, we'll be short. Especially in the FA Cup with Walker and Kaboul cup tied aswell. So it could just be a backup option like with Danny Rose.
Playing players out of position is one of my bugbears. I'm always moaning about 'square pegs in round holes' lol. The only time I would possibly be in favour of it is if the player coming in doesn't have the experience to cope, then I think you have to rely on a professional player to be able to adapt.

I think walker is cuptied for the FA cup and after seeing Benny at RB last week against Bolton it's clear he only has a right leg for balance.

Personally, i think we may be forced on saturday at least, to play Modric in the center alongside Wilson, with Rose and Nicko on the flanks.

Just remembered, Can't EG play CM as well?

Yeah Benny barely used his right foot, even to the point of trapping a crossfield pass with the outside of his left boot.

Do we know how long Bentley is likely to be out for? With him out, I'd agree with your midfield Mark. Not a lot of choice.

EG and CM? :eek:mg:

Wasn't overly impressed with his pre-season performances but he seems to be doing well in the championship.

Sorry, had to be done, he impressed me in pre season, looked more ready than Bostock, but I reckon he's just back as emergency cover.

I believe we have great bunch of youngsters coming through, but Livermore is not going to make it at tottenham. People went crazy about him after the barca game coz he scored a goal!

Bostock is on a different level to Livermore. This was apparant even from their short appearance against barca. The way bostock moves the ball is top class. Livermore is physically imposing but his technique is not good enough.

Im never normally negative - but this hudd injury is an absolute disaster. Really hope I am wrong but just cannot see Livermore being good enough.

Our best bet is hoping Krancjar can settle in to playing CM. He has very good upper body strength, obv excellent on the ball so will be fine collecting it off the full backs & CB and keep the ball moving. Wilson will have to sit more and not get ahead of the ball.

Also for those who have said would prefer Livermore to Jenas - that is just fucking stupid. We are going to miss JJ big time now Hudd is injured.

He is a bit of a lump! What was his loan period like?

Tab is at QPR and putting up some good numbers:

30 games and 6 goals.

I would take him back too to be honest.

i was impressed by Livermore in other games too that I've seen him play

I think he can be the difference between winning and not winning the fA cup - assuming he's not cup-tied

he looks like a prem player in the way that neither GDS or taraabt do

he puts himself about - some skill - can head the ball it seems-

if only Adel would learn to head the ball he'd be a considerably better player

From what i remember, Livermore did quite well in Pre season and looked a decent player.

Having seen Livermore much more than in pre-season, I don't share your reservations. He is not only physically imposing, but he is confident on the ball and distributes fairly well, at least to the same extent as O'Hara. I doubt he's going to be used unless he is the only genuine option available, but there is something to the lad and of our young central midfielders I think he is the one who would most likely do a job at the moment. I'm not saying he is potentially the best, but I think right now if we need him he may well pleasantly surprise us.

As for Taarabt, with his ability I'd dearly love it if he could make it with us, but after 3 years with us in which he has been exposed to the first team, he still hasn't done enough it seems. Not writing the kid off, but it's not looking great.

I'm assuming you don't mean as a CM? Because that truly would be disastrous...

Really hope your right mate. Ive only seen him a couple of times and just wasnt convinced by him. Ive not seen him play in the Championship but does concern me that he wasnt getting in the Derby side but hopefully may thrive playing with better players etc.

For me, has to be Kranc alongside Wilson. When Wilson serves his suspension then Livermore will have to step up!

Im sure Arry is on the case assessing all of our options. Still think Charlie could be an option alongside Wilson if he sat and Wilson went box to box.

Coping with this injury to Hudd will define our season. Just seem to be so unlucky with injuries when sides like Villa seem to play literally their best 11 every single week - we have not been able to play our best 11 once this entire season.... so fuckin frustrating!

When I have seen Livermore, which granted is a hole lot I was pretty impressed with him. He looked like he could do a job in the midfield for us against a lesser Prem team, now I wouldn't want him going up against Lampard or Carrick but against the lower level guys I could see Livermore mildly surprising a lot of people if he just keeps it simple and lets the stars around him do their job, Modric, and Niko so forth.

Does anyone know if he is Cup tied?

Why? I don't think two DM's in the middle is a good idea.

Yeah but Taarabt is pretty much a forward who can play wide also, the only way he could play in cm is as the attacking midfielder in a 451.

Taarabt is a pure number 10. It would be like playing Ronaldinho at central midfield in the premiership (though I'm not ofcourse suggesting he is in any other way comparable other than position). He has abysmal work ethic and never tackles. He makes Kranjcar look like Roy Keane.

He has probably played as many games as an attacking midfielder as he has a forward/winger combined.

His ability does make him a utility player, but IMO he is perfect to come off the bench to do a positive shift for us slap bang in the middle. Which is what we want right?

At this stage of the season I would rather Ledders, Corky or Kaboom (players with Prem DM experience) to start over Livermore if we wanted to put a defensive partner with Palacios. Or as replacement should he get more yellows/injuries.
