Blame the players by all means, but can anyone explain to me what Poch’s game plan was second half?

Three CBS, with two wing backs. One of whom, Sissoko, who can’t cross or do anything vaguely offensive and Davies, the least mobile full back we have.

It was barmy.

I’ve reached that stage in life/age now where rather than getting over a game like this by going out and getting pissed and having a mad one, I’m actually off out to a garden centre to buy a new bird bath and have some cake.

Your life sounds utterley amazing.

Believe it or not, “the manager is devoid of ideas and needs to leave” and “many of the players are a disgrace and need shipping out in the next couple of windows” can both be true. And are.

see Trix's comment:
Also believe what you want of this but one of my mates bumped into one of Toby’s close friends, to the point where Toby and him have holiday pictures. He said Toby probably would stay as he has a young family and its effort to move but he said it’s his wife heavily pushing for a move. This happened months ago so things could’ve changed but just passing this on in good faith

How gutting to see the same set of players that Poch groomed, some to become better than they actually were before, a few who have become top stars, have totally stopped playing for him and dare I say it, stopped playing for the fans and the club... Absolutely gutting..
How do you expect them to react to the manager that has groomed them for 5 years saying he wants to rip up the squad and start again? How can he expect them to have any loyalty to him orb their employer when he'd so happily discard them? Let alone run through brick walls for him? Look how he treats Moura, the guy that almost single handedly papered over a fuck load of cracks for him last season...

You could ask similar questions about plenty of our performances/lineups over the past year. Whatever Poch's ideas are regarding these choices they aren't being manifested on the pitch.

When he was at his best he was a one system, one idea man. Every match was 4-2-3-1 and he played the same lineup almost every match. This had it's own drawbacks, but now he's gone too far the other way. It's endless tinkering, with fluid amorphous formations that rarely look cohesive or make any sense.

Today we started out playing 4-2-3-1 which I thought looked OK. Then after about 20-odd minutes we pushed Son up top with and the midfield got a bit messy. Was it a 4-4-2 or some kind of diamond? I'm not honestly sure. Either way it was worse and we conceded another.

Then we go to 3 at the back in the 2nd half and look a tiny bit better but still terrible.

What's the thinking behind all this? What roles were Eriksen and Lamela meant to be playing? It never looked like we had a gameplan - it all just seemed random and confused.

Son has been one of the worst offenders, and has been that way since he's been here. The guy doesn't know how to defend and getting him track back is like pulling teeth. Moura is similar.
The joke thread is in the general chat, mate...

A fresh well respected face could do wonders with these lot. They didn’t lose their ability overnight. They’re struggling with the basics and heads drop so fast. Poch talks a big game but I’m not sure about his own ‘winning mentality’. Jose could foster a siege mentality with these lot pretty quick. I really do think we could do a lot lot worse than Mourinho or Allegri right now. Don’t think either are long term solutions, but just someone to try keep us in the top 4 and not have the last half decade go to waste
2 years of jose getting us top 4 & maybe a trophy while we pay off more of the stadium, then once he tires of levy we could look for a longer term coach. Agree our stock must be high around Europe so can't waste the chance to get a big name

It says a lot about the squad when the back ups arent deemed good enough to replace the players who poch wanted out.

Hugo's pride is hurting so much - he needed morphine.

Actually I hope his injury is not as bad as they seem to think.

We have said in the past we want to do things differently by promoting youth, well now’s the chance.

Rather than sack the manager, Poch, the coaching team and Levy need to sit down and get to the root cause of this. If it’s the contract dodgers affecting squad unity then banish them irrespective of whether we lose out on any potential transfer fee in January.

I’d be pissed off if a few bad apples get the best manager we’ve had in decades binned off. And as a fanbase we need to get behind the coaching staff not whinge and be negative.
