Thing is it's difficult to clear our an entire squad. We don't have the money or time to sign or promote 6 or 7 new players.

Chelsea have had huge dips in previous seasons then won the league a year later. Did they change half their squad? No. What changed? The manager.

We look like we're in a death spiral here and I think we need to act quickly before we end up like Chelsea in 15-16.
A change of management will make zero difference right now. We have 4 first choice players who actually look like they want to leave so a new manager now is not going to change that. They will still play poorly and put in minimum effort. The only reason I can think of why Poch is playing them is because he has been asked by Levy to keep them in the fold to maintain value

According to BT Sports, in the last 5 years Poch has spent £87 million on players compared to £500/£600 million at Man City.

So, the question is, is this Levy fault for not providing the cash or Poch’s fault for not insisting on more money?

Discuss.

That was a valid argument pre-2019 when we were doing well, winning most matches but ultimately didn't have the resources to match Man City.

It's no longer valid because our 2019 league form is barely matching the likes of Bournemouth and Watford.

Poch will go somewhere else and win multiple trophies, while we'll be competing with Leicester and Everton for euro vase under Eddie howe in a half empty stadium that we can't afford

Russia, China, maybe MLS
Major titles??? Don’t see that happening.

Too many excuses. If the players aren’t performing replace them with u23 players who want to be out there. Maybe it’s not that simple but if the problem lies with unmotivated players then I don’t see another way.
Well, there’s getting rid of poch of course but I’m taking the line that they won’t.

But maybe poch wants away and a pay off by forcing someone’s hand.

That was utterly pitiful. Spineless from the defence (except Sissoko), zero invention, no one taking responsibility to make chances, playing stupid possession football inside our own half, no one actually getting into the box, no movement in attack. Alderweireld can go, Jan can go, Eriksen can get out of our club, Aurier not on the pitch but he can go, Rose can go. They can go for free for all I care. I'd rather they were replaced by youth players less able but more motivated. Bring in Sanchez, Foyth and Tanganga, Eyoma, I honestly don't care so long as those wastes of space go and stop polluting our club with their poor attitudes.

As for Poch, I'm behind him at least until the end of the season
What's Danny Rose done? I do get your point though and I posted in the Bayern match thread that we are at a rebuilding stage and it will be painful and I'm sure some people don't get that. what I posted was that we may just as well play Sanchez and Foyth as well because they are the future of the club and will have to do it eventually and I'll repeat my question can they do any worse?
It is coming to the point, if things don't change, where we will realise the season is blown anyway so we have nothing much to lose and so treat it as an opportunity to start the future.
I am firmly of the belief that if we don't get CL not having Europa is preferable so let's go for it.

we all know we should live where our happiness is independent of what other people do, say or think so until now, Spurs downhill slide has been a piece of cake. the results against Bayern were painful, but it was pretty obvious (and incorrect) that the players would have enough personal pride and capability that they could run riot over Brighton in the first 15 minutes and see the game out. (see my ridiculously optimistic prediction along with Mr. Pink) Losing your keeper and captain to a horrific injury certainly doesn't help but instead of galvanizing the team, they looked lost.

Before today, i was a PochIn guy and still secretly hope he resurrects the team. At the same time, if the team cannot coalesce in circumstances like this, you have to ask, what will it take to make them do so. At this point, i'll be curious to hear the exact wording of players is to understand whether they defend him or let him dangle in the wind. If they don't, then it is probably unrecoverable.

I'd also have to wonder whether MU or RM would even consider approaching him now considering how far we've fallen. that goes for the players out of contract too. Everyone is losing at this point.

It’s funny because I would’ve agreed with you a season ago. But months of piss poor football and the results as well as the squad seemingly turning on him or at least not trying for him when he’s under the cosh makes me want him out. But keep living in the past. You would watch the club regress because of sentiment, and there’s no guarantee he wouldn’t just jump in summer.
I understand your point but if the players want to leave what makes you think they will play for a new manager? If they want to leave they won't play for anyone at Spurs.

My only gripe with Poch is that he has kept them in the team

Maybe part of the reason they want to leave is because everything has gone stale and the tactics aren't working.

New mangers rejuvenate players all the time. Unfavoured players are brought back into the fold, training is completely fresh and different and the whole feel around a club changes. If we brought in someone like Allegri and started playing like a real coherent unit that could win things, I honestly wouldn't be that surprised if Eriksen and/or Toby signed new deals and played something like their best again.

With each loss it won't just be the want-away players whose heads are dropping. Even the hard working pros like Harry, Son, Moura, etc will start to doubt Poch, and once that happens it's very hard to turn it around. What do we do then? Sell Kane?

Don’t get caught up in the Levy thing. Lack of investment is a separate issue.

We have a very strong squad and it’s down to Poch why we are in this mess. We’ve been getting worse for 18 months. It’s all well and good Poch saying he wanted a rebuild but you can’t lose the current squad whilst it’s happening.

You can’t blame Levy for not being able to sell half the squad who Poch wants rid of in one window?

Annoyed me to see Jenas making excuses for Poch and again pointing to the Cl final as some sort of signal that Poch is amazing and said we’ve had a tough time for a “couple of weeks”. He should have turned around and said we’ve been getting worse since the beginning of last season but he’s obviously not that good a pundit and doesn’t pay that much attention.

see Trix's comment:
Do they all want out of the club, or just away from the manager? I would actually say it's a mixture of both tbh. Imo(slightly educated) the Belgians for instance would be happy to stay.

Get a grip it’s only football. It happens to most clubs these days and right now it’s our turn. Suck it up and move on. I’m sure your WhatsApp groups and Facebook timeline will be full of hilarious and original memes but so fucking what? The players clearly don’t give a shit about us so why should we care about them?

If the rumours are true that they’ve turned on Poch and are now refusing to put the effort in then they need to get out of the club too. Arseholes, the lot of them. Absolute wimps.
