Great result tonight. But let's not get carried away, red star were proper shit. We look great against teams who try to attack but aren't good enough.

We struggle against Deep lying defensive sides and high pressing attacking sides.

Red star were neither.

Well done boys and well done Poch. Please please please just keep it this simple against Pool. Round pegs in round holes and let the players play to their strengths.

COYS

So so important he shows consistency and sticks with this team. I think there's a few on the bench who can be involved in the future but he needs to keep it to the same 14-16 players. So happy to see Dele and Kane back in those spots and Son benefited from it. Just hope we haven't lost dele mentally forever as he cut an angry figure at times.

A better performance, but against a fairly poor side.

Vertonghen still off the pace though & Hoddle made the point that most of those playing will be there for more than just this season.

Hopefully all is not lost regarding the relationship between Poch and the players.

Same team vs Liverpool please.
They all earned their spot. Nothing more nothing less.
The same team could play Liverpool, play exactly he same way and get hammered tae feck. It's not about team selection, we have a strong squad - it's about team solidarity and the quality of the opposition.

Ndombele & Sissoko have been the best two in cm so far, Ndomele has an eye for a pass, does the simple things really well.

Although Ndombele is effectively Dembeles replacement they are different type of players. TBH I can’t think of anyone similar to Dembele past or present, such a unique gem
Perhaps the best player that ever lived who wasn't very quick, hated shooting and couldn't really pass. Amazing that he could boss a midfield the way he did, really. A true genius of a footballer.

Agreed but the way he dropped his shoulder a couple of times to go past his man was very Dembele esq

Much better performance, albeit against a team that looked beaten as soon as Kane scored the opener. But massively important to get that sort of result, after the crap they've served up recently.
All looked good going forward, and Ndombele had his best game by far, looked real quality at times.

No doubt though, scousers are gonna be a little tougher on Sunday.............COYS!!

Playing Sissoko just infront of the back 4 tonight and getting him to just pass simply to the full backs or Ndombele was a good decision. He has the physical attributes to be a player there for us as long as he can be that barrier to help us move forward.

It’s a total no brainier that our best CM partnership is him and Ndombele at present but I’d like to see a top level DM come into the club at some point.

Also, special mention to Lamela who has been plagued with injury after injury after injury and now seems past all of that and works his absolute socks off for the team and finished the game with 2 assists and a goal. Good lad!

I see a lot of posts proposing that Pochettino should pick the same side against Liverpool. Surely everyone should realise, without having to think, that there is absolutely zero chance of that.

He will rotate at least 3-5 players.
