First few were saying 4-0 or 5-1 wins
Will be a 4-0 win!
Then it went onto who they have fit to play
We simply hardly have any alternatives in defense / outside that have match practice over 90 minutes. No Haudum, no Cheba, no Ramsebner, no Potzmann, no rider. Any set-up remains a risk, no matter what you do.

Gruber's injury has not turned out to be serious. Still it is not sure whether he can play on Thursday ..... the same goes for Balic

Somehow Tatar is right when he says that the Spurs are not interested in this game. I still don't believe in a 4-0. But an increase in points is possible. Perhaps Ludo will also manage the sensation and we will still stay in the competition ?

Someone actually posts what opponents' fans are saying and it circles right back to how much we all hate our rivals. People always gotta get the last word in...

We're top of the table, I'd actually be interested in what our opponents' fans are saying.

You shouldn’t care about what other people think. You are a strong independent person. You do you (y)

Tammy Abraham could have had 2 headers off great crosses by Reece James put on a plate for him but he bungled it. Those were their 2 best opportunities all game until Rodon almost shipped them a winner in stoppage time

I don't buy this at all Rodon got in great positions and tight to him that made it impossible for Abraham to make the required connection....It is allowed to be good defending not just a bad finish. The opportunity he had was when it dropped over Dier and he didn't read it. I just think we defended well and kept them out end of.

Anyway, Red Cafe's spurs thread before the draw:

Tbf, I do find it annoying when we draw a PL club in the 3rd or 4th round. Manager doesn’t know whether to stick or twist in regards to resting players. Wouldn’t want to draw you this year considering your decent start to the season especially. Marine or Chorley will do!

after the draw

Lucky twits

Gruber out injured is a bonus after what he did at Nakatomi Plaza. Stoke should really sign him and play him with McLean.

I can assure the only Mason seen at Eton would one of the ‘Free’ type. I expect no-one called Mason has been a pupil there?

I read a couple of years ago that the most common surname at Eton now is Patel (due to lots of extremely wealthy Indian families sending their sons there). Apparently the old English Etonian families are whinging because Eton have put their prices up and only rich foreigners can afford to go. One of the old English Etonians was quoted in the article whinging that he'd gone to Eton, his father had, his grandfather and his great grandfather, but now he can't afford to send his son there... he said, with no sense of irony: "we're being priced out of a good education". Absolute clown

Sorry - wrong thread... I'll take this to the "English Class System and Its Discontents" thread

Some opponents' views on Spurs from Le Grove:

"I think we’ll surprise everyone and win at spurs, but then again suffer against ‘smaller’ teams."

"Spuds has to travel to Austria and we play at home on Thursday. At least a small advantage. "

"Manchester City doesn’t have great strikers, but they have an incredible pipeline of creativity that feeds them.
Spurs don’t have an incredible pipeline, but they have complete forwards in Kane and Son.
We don’t have complete strikers. We don’t have good wingers. We don’t have good midfielders. Slander Arteta all you want, but this squad is built for no manager in the world. It’s a fucking mess."

Regarding Grealish: "Where does he likely end up? City as a De Bruyne replacement maybe?
Chelsea and United are both set for creative midfielders.
Can’t see him at Liverpool either for some reason, bringing in Thiago as well as Jota means that they are well stocked. for midfielder/wide forward slots.
Spurs the only other likely PL option, now there’s a scary thought. Would fit them like a glove and bring all of the qualities that they lack in midfield."

"Bit premature to say that don’t you think? Spurs haven’t done anything of note yet."

'Kane has gone from someone who was unstoppable to scoring 2 goals in 5 and playing as a DM. It'll catch up on you.'

I wouldn't get too excited by a few big wins under Jose.

We scored 21 goals and had 19 points out of 21 in the first 7 games of his second season.

The crap football will show up soon enough.

Look, I dont think Jose has been that defensive so far but a lot of the reasoning of having Kane drop back and play off of Son is so you can keep a discliplined shape. Its just obvious to me that itll tire your front 2 out and youll lose your bite because of it.
Kane is already on 2 goals in his last 5 and isnt getting many chances around the box on top of that, if he even gets in the box.
Those 2 Chelsea performances will start to seep into lesser games where you dont want to give anything away and he knows Kane and Son will get 1 or 2 chances in a game and he trusts those 2 to finish them.

They started the season off very well, but in the last 5 games their attacking form has dropped down a level, to the point where they're now starting to really struggle to get shots on target. Only a matter of time before their luck runs out and they drop points on a regular basis imo. Don't really blame Jose playing his usual Jose football, it gets him results even if its dull as shite.

Or Newcastle or Brighton at home or Burnley away. United have played 4 of the current top 7. Spurs have played 3. We’ve yet to play any of the bottom 3, unlike Spurs. And we’ve been shit, while Spurs have been magnificent. Really should’ve built up a bigger lead. Enjoy that Europa League. Maybe Mourinho could win it again.

Great draw for him in the FA Cup. Once they will be up by 8 goals, he can sub in the youth players and then claim that he always gave them a chance, and add it to his bullshit list (which included Robben) of players he gave their chance

Re. squad depth

I said PL, no one apart from Spurs play their first team in the Europa.

Yes, right now really.

Liverpool missing - VVD, Gomez, Trent, Thiago, Milner injured

Manuted have Shaw, Pogba, Martial, Bailly, Martial, DDG, McTominay injured

Leicester have had their injury issues.
Chelsea have had their issues as well, this season.

Last year was horrific? are you saying Spurs were the only team to have injuries last season? Most clubs had quite bad injuries too.

So much about stats against Chelsea but how about you watch the game? Chelsea played at home with a vastly superior squad but still were more worried about defending deep to nullify Kane. I felt Tottenham was slightly better tactically in terms of creating dangerous situations.

Chelsea only troubled after a coulle individual mistakes of Rodon. No team wanted to lose so this xG of 0 is typical in these situations but ye keep on hating the man.

Strength of 2nd choice team

Okay lets talk football.

Henderson > Gazzaniga / Hart
Williams < Aurier
Tuanzebe > Rodon
Bailly = Sanchez
Telles > Davies

Pogba > Winks
McTominay < Le Celso

Greenwood > Lamela
James < Bale
Mata = Alli
Ighalo = Vinicius

None of Spurs depth players would get into United first 11 whereas United have Henderson, Pogba, Telles who could get into the Spurs first 11.

Okay, Moura < Greenwood.

Yep Moura is better. 19/20 Moura got 7 goals 5 assists and Greenwood got 19 goals 5 assists.

Lloris is probably one of the worst keepers int he top 6 so, yes he would get displaced. Maybe Teles wont but there is No one in the Spurs 2nd squad that would even get near the United first 11.

I understand you have to bring up the 6-1, but I am over it so doesn't really bother me. You can win 6-1 but still have a empty trophy cabinet, maybe you can add "Beat United 6-1 with Lamela" in your trophy cabinet to make you feel superior.

So it is pretty clear United's second choice is better than Spurs as we can call upon tried and tested players like Pogba, VDB, Greenwood, Telles, Henderson.

Henderson was one of the top keepers in all of English football over the last 2 seasons, attracting interest from Chelsea and seen as Neurs potential replacement at Bayern until he signed his contract while Lloris is injury prone and aging.
Would he even get in front of Kasper?
I just find it strange how you are talking up your reserves yet Jose subbed 4 of them off at halftime and publically called them shit.

End with a positive comment

I reckon the Spurs job suits him down to the ground. Players like Sissoko and Dyer thrive under a coach like Mourinho. On coming to a club he usually chooses his main man. He makes them indispensible and gets his ideas to the team through them. At Chelsea it was John Terry at utd he didn't find his man but Harry Kane's is his man at Spurs. After a shaky start I reckon he's winning the players over through grinding out results and making Spurs a difficult team to meet. He's certainly inserted some toughness and cutting edge to the team. The transformation of Dyer is there to be seen. He's a different player now.

At the end of the day fans will protect their teams. No hard feelings we move on. One thing for sure we have to win a trophy to gain respect.
