Starting two DM's sounds a horrible idea to me. I don't think either him or Sandro would want to sit on the bench. Surely we could use the money better in other positions even if this guys is the nuts

I didn't mean it as a pairing, more as the midfield enforcer role within the squad.

Away from home in a 3, there's no reason they couldn't play together.

Sissoko isn't the best tackler or intercepter out there. He's a very strong dribbler and a good box-to-box player, bit like Dembele actually, but he's no way a cover for Sandro/replacement for Parker.

M'Vila is more than a DM, he can do the good things that Sandro does plus he has better technique and has an eye for a pass.

Its not defensive if one of the two can effectively contribute going forward.

Prepared to be corrected by people who have seen more of him.

On the occasions that I've seen him, he looked pretty strong in the tackle and very rangy and athletic which is what reminded me of Vieira. I totally get that he's more of a box to box player than M'Villa who is more of a holding midfielder.

I think Livermore will be fine, he just hasn't had the opportunity to play. I honestly don't care for us to overpay now to cover for Parker's future departure. If we can get Sissoko for cheap, I would be okay with it. Now, back to Livermore, there was a time when Bale was out of favor, and not being picked by Arry. People thought he was shit, a flop, etc, when in reality, he just hadn't had a proper chance. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ngham-boss-Alex-McLeish-eyes-3m-defender.html

Yeah, he's good at it, but as far as DMs go he can't compete with the likes of Sandro. I'm not saying that he's a bad defender, but defending isn't his main asset or what he does best. Diame or M'Vila would be better defensive options to cover for Sandro and to eventually replace Parker. Sissoko is a great prospect with some great qualities at age 23. He's big, can run with the ball, good work rate, can pick a pass and can score a few goals. Putting him in Sandro's position would, IMO, be a waste of his talents and he wouldn't be an adequate replacement in that particular role.

Why? do you think we play better with 10 men?
Know what you mean, some one with the Roy Kean look in his eye.
No not at all my friend. Just would like to see a little bit of attitude or even controlled aggression among our squad. The Beast is out for awhile and I absolutely have no problems with someone having a bit of physicality about them. At times I really think we need that spark.

I just don't see the need for another Midfielder.

We need a striker that's going to get stuck in and rough defences up a bit. Defoe and Ade are such fairies.

Thats funny. Was he ever considered a flop though? I haven't got an eye for future talent and most of the conversations people have on this forum go over my head regarding players abilities and potential - but even I could see Bale was immense when he first came and played a few games scoring a couple of free kicks before he got injured and fell out of favour. I know he was cursed for a while but that article must have been total bollocks right? I can't quite see Livermore being in the same bracket.

I haven't seen a lot of M'Vila myself - but having Lloris and Kaboul showing him the way might just be what he needs to sort his attitude out. I do think we need to move on 2 of Jenas, Huddlestone and Livermore before signing another Central Midfielder though.

To all those talking about jake Livermore and Tom Carroll, IMO they're not good enough, one of spurs flaws is the youth set up, we have always bought good young prospects in we don't tend to have the set up right to produce players that can make the transition to first team, with the exception of ledley, look at the pekharts and the livermores. Unfortunately the Middlesbrough and west hams of this world have a better track record. Although generally we have identified good young talent and made some shrewd signings with bale being the obvious example. My point is that we need players in certain positions and currently our young players aren't good enough, we need to spend and strengthen, I think levy will bring in some established players this window

I have to differ my friend, our nexgen teams are doing extremely well. U18 and U21 both have lots of talent in their teams and we can expect some of them to really start pushing for a place in the 1st team squad very soon. With Barca reportedly looking at some of our players and with the team teaching other top european sides U18 and U21 teams a lesson I think our future is looking rosy.

We have been offered Manual Fernades and Eduado Vargas. I would imagine that these 2 are just 2 of very many as lots of clubs in Europe are struggling with their wage bill.

Fernandes is like Veloso in that his name just crops up every so often without him ever really doing anything!

haha, the comments on that article about Bale are amazing:

"The fact is that £3 million would be a fair price. Spurs had their pants pulled down when they bought him and he's been as big a flop as it's possible to be."

"LOL They paid £10 million for that gimp! Only Sp*rs could waste that kind of money. Maybe they should take Wenger's perspective on left backs and grow their own like Gibbs, Cole, Traore."

"I remember Spurs dancing in the street saying 'we beat Man United to this brilliant young lad!' Thanks Gareth, for turning us down!"
