Just sign a striker.
But its not "Just sign a striker".

Its Just sign a striker
That we've heard of
that we want
that plays football in the right way
at a cheap price
that has an instant impact

And we still reserve the right to complain if someone else buys a better one.

Not that I believe it but if we have little money then Berba for me and try and tie up the Morata deal, in fact if we can tie up a deal for Morata on loan we need to be adding defenders

Good player, immense work rate and speed.

Could be a very shrewd bit of business, I would like this signing.

Would be thrilled to see Shane sign for us. I think he is incredibly under ratted, has as immense engine, always causes defenders issues , movement is stellar and finishing is quite good. With our creative players starting to find their feet, he would thrive in the team. Would work well as a lone forward or with Ade/Soldado. Plus he's only 26 with prem experience all for under 4 mill? DO IT BALDEVY!!!!

Long would be an interesting proposition I think. He works his arse off when he plays to the point where he's exhausted, but if he was only playing as a backup/alternative option then that would be much less of a problem. If he'd be happy as a third wheel then why not?

I like Long, but I don't think he'd be great in a team that dominates possession like we do.

You lot wanting shaq as our third striker are deluded. He's played 5mins PL football, and zero mins of championship football even, come on.

Long is a full international with bags of experience and is better than shaq in every department.

He's not Aguero or Suarez yes, but as a third choice you can't ask for much more

I would take him, he's a good player and good for 3rd choice. Runs the channels well and a good option to being off the bench.

"following their £110million summer spree." God damn. Who the hell edits this horseshit?

Do they mean following our £3million spending spree? Because that was our total spending. Learn some math, papers. It would serve you well.

Daniel, cough up the dough. Your robbing Garber of £9m for the waste that is Defoe. Just throw a little more investment than £9m please. Im not asking for much. Maybe like £20m investment would suffice? We need a CB, LB, striker and left winger. A £29m expenditure would could propel us to top 4. It would only be a £20m investment...

It's a way of thought.
You sign players that are top international class or have the capacity to become so.
Squad players and back up roles are given to younger players coming through the academy.
If you fill the squad with second rate senior players, youth will never break through, even if they are more talented than the seniors bloating the squad. An U21 player might get a couple of games and suddenly he's regarded as a Premier League quality player. Just look at Nabil Bentaleb getting his opportunity.
If we had one or two more midfielders, say Michael Brown and Sean Davis, which Sherwood knew and trusted then he'd use them instead of Bentaleb because they are proven players.

It's not a matter og whether Long or Coulthirst are the better player.
Due to his age, Coulthirst have no body of work to take that fight.
What it comes down to is if we're going to sign a striker -
it should be either a proven player like Benteke, or an exciting prospect like Morata.
Shane Long is just a waste of time and money.

I actually do think we need to sign another striker if Defoe leaves,
but in my opinion it need to be someone better than Long.
If we buy, we buy top quality. If not it's better to just use the U21 player next in line.

I always have to fight for the youth in the situations like this.
I've recently had to do it with Townsend, Carroll, Kane, Rose etc.
I did it back with King, Young etc.
And I'll do it with Coulthirst, McEvoy, Pritchard, Veljkovic etc.

The most tempting side of a Long transfer is that he's approaching the end of his contract,
he could be sold with profit in the summer or in a years time.
Many are angry on Levy's thirst for these kind of deals though

I agree with alot of what you say, but we need a third striker to be able to come in immediately and be able to make a difference immediately. I just dont think Coulthirst can do that, and I do think Long could.

People on here are always moaning about us not signing strikers, but then turn their noses up at everyone who isn't cavani or suarez or benzema. We're not signing any top strikers in the near future, especially not in january.

Shane Long is a viable alternative and makes alot of sense as a short term option, including financially as he will probably go for 1-2mill or so. I hate people writing off players just because they're not a foreign fancy dan

I'd prefer some actual scouting though on the striker front, and us finding the next benteke or falcao or whomever

Jan window is difficult to sign strikers imo... what I fear is we sell Defoe and not get anyone. This is Spurs tradition.

No brainer for me. More effective and cheaper than defoe. Sell for a profit in 12 months when coulthurst is ready.
