I would prefer to keep Gaz as 2nd/3rd choice and loan out Austin and Whiteman.

But from his perspective and to save money on wages/bring in a transfer fee I can see why he might be sold.
Getting Joe Hart in could mean getting a fee for Gazzaniga and investing the cash somewhere else in the squad ?

my opinion, no way has Hart come to play 3rd GK behind Gazza... IMO Hart has been promised to challenge Hugo, but also get Uefa cup / Carabao Cup games... Pretty confident Gazza will be sold

Hart has failed at west ham, burnley ... He was coming to media and begging any club to take him... I think he is super happy to be 3rd or 4th choice at spurs rather than having no club at all ...

I think stats can be overrated. Honestly not sure if they paint the right picture or not in this case, but our defense was atrocious this year and our defenders were giving away opportunities for fun during the first half of the year. Hugo wasn’t having a particularly good year either until he got hurt.

Perhaps more worrying is that Hart hasn’t really got a run of games in the last 18 months. Who knows if his reflexes are now a lot slower, or how he’ll cope right after a howler. He can say he’s ready and mentally strong, but you never know until you’re in the situation.

I hope he is able to rediscover his form and be a great backup for us, but I’d want to make sure before relying on him. He would be the best 3rd GK in the premier league though and I love Spurs having this strength.
Yeh I largely agree on stats, although I think it's more accurate when you look at keepers as frankly there isn't as much nuance to their game as there is with outfields players.

I also got the stats a bit wrong, but you can compare both his 17/18 and 18/19 season to Gazza's 19/20 season and see that they actually have very similar stats, albeit the teams Hart has played for both shipped more goals in a season than Spurs did, so whilst our defence this season was bad it was still better than West Ham's and Burnely's when he played for them.

Again it is hard to say whether he is better or on a par with Gazza, but theres a lot of talk of him being a downgrade on Gazza and I personally just don't see it.

There's absolutely no way he has joined us to be 4th choice ?

My personal opinion is that Gazzaniga is a better keeper than the "today" Joe Hart. I thought Gazza deputized with credit all those weeks and many matches when Lloris was out injured with his elbow. If it is down to the home ground complement, then fair enough, but Hart should not get to replace Gazza as No2 if he Gazza stays. Hart was 3rd choice at both Burnley and West Ham for a reason, two teams that were not exactly setting the world alight with regards to football.

Or we loan out Whiteman and Austin and if they both do well we have a solid back up for the future or can sell them for a big fee. Similar to Man Utd and Henderson, who would be worth virtually nothing if he had stayed at Utd as 3rd choice.

Bring on Hart for free, pay him modest wages, sell Gazzaniga, promote from within for the 3rd GK and use the money/spot on the team to fill a position of need. Makes sense... too much sense.

So if it isn't a confidence thing how do you explain going from 75 England caps and multiple titles to being poor? did he get amnesia and completely forget how to play? One of his last England caps was away at Slovakia when we got absolutely battered but managed to draw because he was superb. He has been a good keeper and if signing him and selling Paulo means we get a right back who wont give away possession constantly or a left back who can cross then I am all for it. But I am interested in why you think he is "just shit now" if it isn't confidence?
Guess all keepers have peaks, (Hart is undoubtedly passed his) Shilton was a great keeper once but don't want him in goal now.

Ok so now I know your just on a wind up. You can't honestly have watched any of the interviews he's given in the last couple of weeks and seriously hold this opinion.

Why did he took low wages? How many clubs offered him new contract despite him being available for free ? I think you have not a single clue about joe hart's current situation and still living in 2016 ...

If Mourinho's history is anything to go by, he likes 3 experienced keepers in the squad (hence why he left out Wanyama in CL to bring Vorm in).
Man utd he brought in Lee Grant, at Chelsea Hilário and Schwarzer

You're having a mare mate, you might want to quit whilst you're only quite far behind. He's on £27,500 per week, Gazzaniga is on £20,000 per week. So he's now our second highest paid keeper ?

Vorm was on 45k yet he was third choice .... Hart was earning 50k at burnley .... Now he is earning 27.5k ... Exactly why? You should just quit now

Who really cares? It’s obvious why we signed him and at £27.5k/wk, it’s worth the gamble and helping with HG numbers. Hopefully Hart only plays in the Carabou Coffee Cup and in the group matches on the other side of the world in the Europa League. It’s so weird to be so worked up over this transfer.

I'm coming round to thinking this is the case.
We're in a different dimension now, Jose obviously sees a benefit in loaning out younger players to get them playing time and if Whiteman and Austin have seen how Henderson did they may be well up for it too.
