I'm not overly enthused by any of these links. The down fall of this squad for 2 years has been the lack of any quality behind Kane when he has been injured for any considerable length of time.

Being happy to take some of these players - not sure it screams quality, more an ends to a mean.

We're treading water again (imo) because of last summers window, the stadium and Covid.

We're filling holes and on paper we look solid for it, that's about it for now.

I like King and rate him more than Wilson. Either of King or Wilson can do a job for us.

I dont get the argument that he is no different to Son if playing up top. For me, the issue when Son plays CF is that we miss Son out wide. SO King could fit with them interchanging or either King or Son playing the CF role.

The issue with King seems to be that Bournemouth are still asking for £25m+ so likely to be better deals elsewhere.

Theres nothing wrong with pragmatism. Last year we got two expensive, exotic signings and a young elite talent and none of them have really taken the team on. It’s time to make this team a team.

You are most likely right.

He's got a year left, there's no way they'd want that much IMO. They supposedly want £25-30m for Wilson who is probably more important for them and has 3 years left on his contract.

King and Son would be great together for the the three months when Kane is injured.

I just don’t think he’s a good player and he’s never led the line for Bournemouth like Wilson has and would be asked to for us. Wilson whilst I’m not overly enthused about would be the preference for me. Saying that I suspect both would be too expensive.

Probably want 20 odd. We'll probably get it done for 12 million or so.

I see this one happening, no way we're getting Wood on the cheap.

I prefer King anyway.

I don't see King offering any more than Son (in fact, less) as a back up striker and has all the same limitations (i.e not a target man or hold up capable). Thought he usually played in a 2 up front with Wilson which isn't really what we need if Kane is out.

King's only been allowed to play up front as the main striker one season for Bournemouth, that's the season he scored 16 in the league, with his versatility making it easier for Eddie Howe to let King do a job out of position - left wing, support striker etc. The reason why King hasn't played more as a striker at Bournemouth isn't because he can't, but that it makes more sense to do so with Wilson who's the more limited forward. King's stronger than Son in the hold up game, playing as a lone striker isn't an issue for King and it opens up for Son to stay in his primary position. King's not a target man, but then again we don't play with one. When we go direct we tend to to it on the ground or send the ball in the room behind defenders. Which suit King who's one of the fastest and hardest working strikers in the league.

Wilson or king who is taller? Anyway, always thought king as a better footballer than wilson ...

They're the same height, easy to think King is taller and Wilson shorter than they are, due to their playing style.
I think it comes from King being much stronger and more powerful. Les Ferdinand was the same, at the same height as these two as well 1.80 m (5 ft 11 in)

Makes a lot of sense.

I could see King becoming Jose’s new Samuel Eto’o (not comparing the players, more the roles ffs). He often played second fiddle to Milito as a striker but also had a vital role as a left winger for Jose. Because he was a centre forward by trade, Eto’o would often arrive at the back post at just the right moments. With the signing of Doherty, I can really see us scoring plenty of goals from crosses this season.
This is what we need IMO. He can play more central when Kane is unavailable. Wood can't offer anything other than CF role and doesn't fit the quick exchanges we need to be making.

I’m a bit more optimistic but then I do tend to look on the life side of bright

So where does he play when Kane is available.

We're not going to sign a player that start when our three £100m rated players Kane, Son and Dele are available.
If we play with two up front it's likely to be Kane and Son, but King can play with Kane, it's probably what he'd thrive most with.

So a back up striker has more chance of playing as he won't be 4th choice behind son, moura, berg and Kane is usually unavailable 2-3 months every season.
they wont or cant play every game so yes he has more chance of playing if his sole chance of playing isnt when kane isnt playing. we can have more rotation

This link makes a lot of sense. He’s home grown, age 28, his club was just relegated, and he’s on last year of his contract. All of that considered he’s probably worth no more than around £15m.

I’d prefer Callum Wilson, as I think he’s more of what we need — a true striker to lead the line. King is more of a second striker who plays best when playing off another forward. But if Bournemouth aren’t budging on a lofty valuation for Wilson, King could be worth the shot.

I think king played his best football when he lead the line at Bournemouth for one season
