It's so nice seeing Mourinho being appreciated by Roma and I really hope it ends well. Roma fans are continuing to fill up their stadium to levels unseen since the 2000/01 season (the year Roma won the title) even when they are playing bad teams like Genoa. There is no other manager (Klopp & Simeone come close) that drives such passion/emotions with the fans and make you feel your club & city can take on the entire world.



(Also I will never forgive our board for choosing Lukaku over Dybala last summer. He's looked revitalized under Mourinho and back to being one of the best players in Serie A. 16 games: 10 goals, 3 assists)

Anyone who actually watches Serie A can tell you that Roma is one of the most attacking teams in the league but unfortunately their players are incredibly wasteful. They're also hard to break down defensively.

In the 2021-22 season, Roma was 3rd in Serie A for xG behind only Inter and Atalanta (and 3rd in xGA). In the current 2022-23 season, Roma is 3rd in xG behind only Napoli and Inter (and 1st in xGA). They've been let down by players like Abraham & Zaniolo & Belotti who keep missing all the big chances:

• Tammy Abraham leads the league in big chances missed (11) with a shot conversion of 7.7%
• Zaniolo is 6th in big chances missed (6) with a shot conversion of 2.4%
• Belotti is 11th in big chances missed (5) with a shot conversion of 0.0%

I hope people don't conveniently leave out the fact that both Marco Piccinini and Marco Serra were suspended by the Italian referee association after this match and Mourinho's ban was lifted (allowing him to be on the bench against Juventus). And after preliminary investigations into the audio recordings, Marco Serra (the fourth official) has even been suspended indefinitely and faces being sent down to the lower leagues.

With Roma's win against Juventus, they now have an undefeated record against Juventus, something which hasn't happened since the 2003/04 season (20 years ago when Fabio Capello was the manager). It's actually funny to see how the English media are so desperate for Mourinho to fail but doesn't seem to understand why Mourinho is so popular in Rome nor the fact that he's a major reason why Roma are selling out every home match (something which hasn't happened since the 2000/01 season).

The football wasn't always that bad though, in fact it could be quite exciting from time to time (even against the likes of Liverpool, when they still were almost all powerful). That 6-1 trashing at OT was probably one of our best and most savage performances ever.

IMO, that season we really were hurt by a couple of terrible refereeing decisions. I know people will say it's an excuse and that I'm victimizing us or something, but had we not been done by the referees against both Newcastle and West Ham, we would have built early on a comfortable cushion at the very top of the league, and with a winning coach like Mourinho, who knows where that might have taken us.

But you can't go from 6-1 at OT and top of the league in November to throwing away that game in Zagreb without something going horribly wrong.

Zagreb is seriously the nadir in my whole time supporting Spurs. That trophy was there for the taking, even more so than the FA Cup this year. We should have been the best side left in that competition, only United should've stood between us and that trophy. I've never in my life been as angry about a football match as I was then.
