You could have been convinced that whatshisname was Trippier.

Paolo or something. I feel like he stopped posting when he left. I think it was Trippier that was the subject anyway

Poor guy was pretty much hounded off the site, any time Trippier put a foot wrong people tagged him etc.

I found it all a bit unseemly tbh.

I’m far too intelligent to be suspected of being a footballer. But I’ve seen the grammar some of you use and frankly you could all be Joe Cole!

Yeah that's the one. Hasn't been on for about 18 months now. Their last post was in May 2019, and Trippier left around June/July 2019, hence the vague half-humoured link. Signed up in 2004 though so no actual link, but was rather invested in Trips.

There were around 240 pages in the Trippier thread and it looks like they posted some 160+ times, so the law of average says that you'll have a good change of seeing one of his posts on any given page on there, which is impressive.

Sam Allardyce's book had either a bit written by his Mrs or a chapter about her, and I think I recall it saying she was on 'the forums' and would be complaining about things that were said. I think those who just keep off social media are doing it right. You might miss out on a bit of free stuff and commercial revenue, but I dare say it's worth being on the radar.

Wasnt there a poster on here a good few years back called JakeTheSnake or something of that ilk, seemed to have a good bit of inside info etc. that we thought/that was Livermore?

Dear God. If you were a footballer, and wanted to sustain any self esteem you'd avoid these forums and general football social media platforms like the plague.

Criticisms of performance, im sure most players self reflect anyway, but the personal insults can be a bit much at times.

I'd wager a few pros have tested the waters at times and been told 'you don't know what you're on about'.

Pretty sure kuwaity was Berbatov. Masked his identity through the metaphorical VPN of assuming the personality of an insane Middle-Eastern toddler.

I was lurking myself at that point. What happened to make you think anyone lurking played for us?

Not sure, just the way that the squad interacted with the fans around that time. Lets be honest, we were riding high at the time and, as others have said, rumours came up.

If I had to guess it was likely fringe and younger players, those with time to kill who were still looking forward to warming the bench. Bentley was an attention whore, bless him, so wouldn't surprise me if he had googled his name a few times around then and ended up here, but Livermore, Townsend, O'Hara maybe - lets be honest, if you knew that there was a website where you could read other people's opinion of how well you do your job or whatever, you'd look, right? Just once maybe, but you'd look.

I could imagine the dressing room WUM reading out excerpts in the same way we do for other fan's forums.

Off topic, but my husband saw Jake Livermore the other day and he was talking to a friend saying he had had Covid and it had affected his voice.

I bet back in the day people had an occasional peek to see what people were saying but now that they're all on twitter you've got to think they get bombarded with fans "opinions" aka insults hundreds of times a day just on there so they've probably more than had their fill. Can't imagine why you then go looking for more on some forum

Did'nt the Mum of a youth player post on here for a while? I'm sure they left when their son was released good prospect around the John Bostock era. Quite certain his first name was Dean also believe was Parret but with Troy onboard thought might just be me repeating history.

I do remember the aussie guy on here name escapes me Bill Oddie or something he snagged the legendary Gary Mabbutt for Q&A and a number of us had the chance to put a question forward via Bill was brilliant, sorry maybe off topic just wish could see that thread I was proud my question was in the Q&A.

That’s right. It was on here or COYS, I can’t remember which.

Nah, he could have saved himself so much grief if he showed some humility and admitted he was wrong.

We all get things wrong, and I respect the posters who can admit as much.

Agree. Personally if I was famous I'd stay away from social media as far as possible. Let my minions deal with that side of things. Its a cesspool. No good can come from either posting or looking at it. A single person you can talk to, people are idiots.

So by the law of averages I've argued with a footballer on this site?

Nice.

I actually find it very revealing that some incredibly rich/successful people spend all day getting into arguments on twitter.

Players being on social media i.e. Twitter and Instagram, they know what’s going on. No need to be lurking in a forum
Dele said in the documentary that players sees everything posted about them
