I could never not support Spurs, it's just my level of interest will go up and down.

The last couple of seasons have been very poor for me. I just feel disconnected from the club.

Growing up I idolised Gary Mabbutt. He was known as Mr Tottenham and was a captain I loved and respected. Throughout the 90s we were mostly very poor but I got to witness some great players in Klinsmann, Ginola, Gazza, Linekar and Sheringham and players I felt an affinity with.

While our league position has improved under Levy there has been so many transfer dealings that I just don't really care about any of them. I started to like Sandro and Holtby then they both left.

I agree with this 100%. However, why is it that on this forum whenever anyone questions or speaks out against Levy/ENIC they get multiple spam ratings. Whats the big Levy/ENIC love in all about.? Why do so many see it necessary to compare their tenureship with the miserable 90`s. Why not compare our current state of affairs with the flare teams of the recent past. It`s not too long ago we had the likes of Lineker, Gascoigne and Waddle. Or Ardiles, Villa and Hoddle. How about Hero`s such as Klinsmann, or the quality of Ginola. Not to mention the glory glory days of the 60`s. Blanchflower, Mackay, Jimmy Greaves and so on. Why must we compare ENIC to the few years immediately preceeding them. Why do we have to compare Levy with Sugar. Let us not forget that ENIC came in at a great time for them. They took over a great club for whom the only way was up. Levy took control on the eve of an unprecedented windfall of billions dished out to Premier league clubs through the sky tv bonanza and the worldwide marketing success of the Barclays Premier League. Yet, despite this, our progress on and off the pitch has been hugely underwhelming. New stadium !!! Where ? More trophies !! When ? Hero`s on the pitch !! Who? Where are the likes of Greavesie, Lineker, Klinsmann, Ardiles and Gazza. Instead of challenging Arsenal, we`re falling behind West Ham. ENIC have failed, Levy has failed. To suggest otherwise is complete nonsense.
Because Daniel reads the forum and is trigger happy with the spam button

It's the conveyor belt of player changes that has made it so difficult to feel any connection to the club - at least for me it is. The best players are essentially 'on loan' for a couple of seasons, and anyone with a hint of personality seems to get shipped out too.

We could see the team gradually evolving from Jol's time in charge. Gradually we managed to assemble a strong squad with a mix of homegrown talent and internationals. Now it just seems like a team of misfits. The only hope now is for Pochettino to stick by our younger players, and let them develop as a team. A team consisting of Kane, Mason, Walker, Dier, Rose/Davis and perhaps even Townsend if he can step up and become a team player, would have a chance of developing a real sense of character.

And that's the key for me - character. Of course I want to see us competing for the CL places and trophies, but I could live with missing out on the former if we played with some passion and identity.

Absolutely. It's about giving players time to improve and fit into the team.

It's hard for me to believe Holtby couldn't have done a better job for us this season than Dembele.

Utd have had many players over the years thought not to be good enough but Ferguson knew how to put a team together and make players of lesser ability provide a good service for the team.

Under Jol we used to win a lot of tight games by a narrow margin. This was a mixture of players working as a team and caring about the club with player like Keane and Berbatov giving you that bit of special skill.

If we had players of a similar attitude but less ability I believe we'd have got something out of West Brom, Stoke and Palace.

The conveyor belt really does take the heart out of the club.

Why not?

In terms of league performance, we've done much better in the last decade than we ever did in the 80s, or in fact at any time since our run under Nicholson and Anderson from 1956 through to 1964. It's pretty hilarious when you talk about the 'miserable' 90s and then mention Gazza, Lineker, Klinsmann (the 'hero' who fucked off to Bayern after one season and left us in the lurch) and Ginola, who played in the very last knockings of the 80s and the, er, 90s.

For someone who claims to support Spurs, you really do have a pretty tenuous grasp of our history.

As for trophies, take five minutes to look at the list of FA Cup winners and finalists since 1991. The CL5 have started to stitch up the League Cup as well.

The likes of Greaves and Gazza go to the CL5 now. When we signed them, we were on a financial par with the likes of United. Now we aren't.

If you go to the Burnley game, cast a glance at the construction site. You'll see where the new stadium's going to be. It's not going to take a whole lot longer than the Emirates.

What a load of utter utter nonsense. First of all, your wrong about the 80`s. Completely wrong. In the 1980`s fella we finished 3rd on three occasions and 4th twice. We also won the FA Cup twice. We also won the EUROPA LEAGUE, as its now known. But you reckon we have done much better in the last decade under ENIC. Where`s the the fucking punchline you clown. Instead of blaming any of our current woes on ENIC or Levy, your forever pointing the finger of blame at the likes of Abramovich, Sheikh Mansour, Thr Glazers, Fenway Sports, Usminov or Lady Bracewell Smith (fucking tart). I suppose you`ll be blaming Gold, Sullivan and their bitch when West Ham cement their superiority over us in the near future. The fact is, your always looking for excuses and passing the buck. You talk about the CL5. Well back in the 80`s, people used to talk about the big 5. And guess what, we were one of them. Thats right, in this barren decade you talk about, we were classed as one of the big 5. As for the Burnley game, Of course I`ll be their, and no doubt I`ll be seeing the same mound of rubble next door that I`ve been seeing for the last 3 years and more.

Watching us play makes me go off football entirely tbh. Not at all as passionate about the game as I was 4 seasons ago.

Cup finalists 1987. Finished third that year too didn't we ? Unlucky not to win league I think I'm right ?

The big 5. Man U. Liverpool. Everton Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

I think @Coyboy has summed it up for me.

I will always be a supporter, that is never in question. However my enthusiasm has waned in recent years. Only natural if you don't particularly enjoy what you are watching.

I don't think I missed a game in our CL year, maybe one or two. But now I am usually content to wait for MOTD highlights or football first. Makes me feel like a bit of a "fair weather" supporter but hey ho, it is how it is.

You're counting 1990 as the 80s, are you? How very quaint. In addition to the two 4th places and two thirds, we also finished 14th, 10th, 8th, 10th, 13th, and 6th . Not, I think, a model of consistency. Perhaps you disagree. Anyway, why are you mentioning cups when I said we've had the best league form since the early 60s? Can't you read? And where did I describe the 80s as a barren decade?

As you so helpfully point out, we were indeed one of the 'Big 5' in the 80s, before Scholar came close to bankrupting us. Now we're way behind the current Big 5 in terms of turnover. Not only do you appear to have serious difficulties with the English language, you seem to have similarly embarrassing problems with very simple sums: our turnover was £147m in the financial year ending 2013, the last we have figures for; City's wage bill was £233m, United's £181m, Chelsea's £179m, Arsenal's £154m and Liverpool's £132m (and Liverpool made a £90m loss over the last two seasons and had to be be bailed out by Fenway). You have to be a very special sort of thickarse not to see the disparity in resources and its implications—not to mention fail to see that their ability to offer CL football on a consistent basis altogether trumps anything we can bring to the table.

Soo... My question to you: do you have a timeframe, a deadline to where you feel enough is enough? Or will you support the team till the very end?

We are not at the end yet?...........................fucks sake.

Time frame.....I'm a Spurs fan!
Time frames are for Arsenal fans..........wimps!

They are not "time frames" they are five year plans. And this is my sixth experience with Spurs in a five year plan.

Here you go again. Talking about other clubs turnovers, wages blah blah fucking blah. What you fail to address is why they have such massive turnovers and why they win things and why we're no longer part of the big 5. Ambition, mate. Something ENIC clearly don't have. You know what, I could spend half the night debunking your pathetic Pro ENIC argument but I really can't be bothered. You have your head wedged so far up their arses I'll just back off and let you claim a moral victory. What's the fucking point.

You may think so, but you're wrong. We made a complete bollocks of the last half-dozen games and finished 15 points shy of Everton; luck had stuff all to do with it.

And of that Big 5, we and Everton missed out on the CL gravy train.
