If Lamela doesn't leave then it's a bit of an issue signing Brooks. However, having 8 attackers for 4 positions isn;t such a bad thing. Lamela could be used as a more tenacious sub as and when needed.

Thing is, we NEED fresh blood in attack. Brooks fits the bill for a counter-attacking setup.

I think he would be a great signing but I don't see us paying £35 million if that is what other clubs are prepared to do. Also, if Liverpool are genuine, we are unlikely to get him.

Interesting to note though that LFC pulled out of a deal for Jamal Lewis (who I'd like us to take a look at) because of the financials I believe, so get the impression they're not gonna be throwing money at deals like Chelsea have been. 35m for Brooks might still be too steep for even them as it most likely would be for us.

I think you’re right. I can’t imagine them spending 35 million on potential. I’d say that 35 million is unrealistic in this market, with clubs probably looking more at the 20-25 million mark

It's almost a shame that Parrott's gone to Millwall, as I think there could be a plausible deal in us taking Wilson and Brooks and sending Troy the other way on loan with no loan fee as a sweetener.

Maybe we can dangle CCV at them as an Ake replacement

Whatever the final price, I don't fancy our chances if Liverpool are interested.

More chance to play, similar wages, London, training ground, stadium, Mourinho.

I know Liverpool have loads to give him but so do we. It's not like we are West Ham.....or even Arsenal.

They have done better for the Olympiacos left back for only 11.5m .... much better than lewis and for Levy smile price.... Agree Varpool wont be spunking billy big boy cash this window, unless they can offload some players to make cash e.g. the likes of Naby keita.... plus the players they need are more good backup players to their 11 so i dont think they will be spending silly big money on players that will be more back to their core.... Also its imperative for brooks is playing week in week out at his age for his development being 23 only , he can become much better still, not sure scouse can give him that at right now

A case of Spurs tinted glasses here surely!
would a young attacking player prefer to play for Klopp or Mourinho? Klopp seems to be right at the forefront of current management skills and success.
Our new stadium is the best in Europe but it doesn’t yet have that mystique of Anfield.
I’m sure Liverpool’s training ground isn’t that shabby
London vs Liverpool - take your pick but remember Brooks was born in Warrington about 5 miles from Liverpool!
And then Liverpool will pay more and they are the current Premier and Champions League Champions.

Straight choice between Spurs and Liverpool right now. I reckon at least 9 out of 10 pick Liverpool.
If they have real interest in DB we have next to zero chance of getting him.

That’s not what I said though is it. I said there’s lots we can offer him to rival them for his signature. We aren’t on the way down like Arsenal or West Ham and have no chance of getting him. You just didn’t comprehend my post.

We can rival Liverpool only on bricks and mortar,
On every other level I think we are a long way off, as per my post. Liverpool will be a player’s #1 choice.
Sadly players don’t select a club on who has the best stadium.

comparing us to West Ham, yes. We are Obviously well above them.
Arsenal, objectively, that’s more even.
We really need to win a trophy.

Just spoke to a Bournemouth season ticket holder mate - reckons Brooks is massively overrated and hopes someone spends stupid money on him.

I’m not saying you’re doing this - but this reminds me of how much I love posts where somebody obviously has an opinion and attempts to give it weight by making up a situation whereby somebody with more knowledge agrees with them.

I haven't seen enough of Brooks week in and week out, to know how good or bad he is - I am just repeating what my mate (who is a Bournemouth season ticket holder) said to me today.
