]But surely Citeh's current progress, along with the post-Del Bosque Galactico years at Madrid show that having a huge budget and squad of superstars doesn't guarantee success?[/b] It takes a very special kind of person to manage that kind of pressure, and those kinds of egos. That is exactly what Mourinho is, and the kind of challenge he looks for.

You are painting Mourinho as a romantic, whereas the cold hard facts of history show he is the ultimate pragmatist.

True, but I think City have a squad which is extremely powerful and physical, and with some tweaks, in terms of being more ambitious and adventurous, that they are ultimately a better prospect in terms of achieving things - if you keep fishing you're going to catch a fish sooner rather than later.

Harry would do a better job than Mancini, I am absoluetly certain about that.

I accept your point, there is a skill in managing big egos etc but the point is he has an open cheque to do what he likes with and whatever way you cut it, it takes the gloss off.

Anybody and everybody would be more impressed if he won the League with Spurs than if he did it with City. Not saying he's necessarilly thinking like that.

Finally, he is more of a pragmatist, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't flirt with the idea...all I'm saying is never say never.

I am English and used to love the England football team almost as much, if not as much as Spurs but quite frankly I hope Wales batter us on Sat. Then Ghana until hopefully the clown in charge goes and the clamour for red reaches fever pitch so he takes the job and leaves a space for Jose.

We can all dream I spose.

Yes he could if the pressure becomes too much from the media etc but so far he seems to have managed to balance the government's accusations whilst still managing Tottenham. However 'Arry has always said he's innocent and unless he's proved guilty Levy will stay with him.
Hopefully 'Arry stays on for a few more years until he's accomplished a permanent top 4 spot, won the league and also the Champions.

England fail at Euro 2012 -> Capello goes -> Harry appointed -> Tim Sherwood announced as new Spurs manager

This WILL happen.
No it won't. Sherwood will not be our new manager.

Plus, Capello won't leave until his contract runs out. There's too much ££ in it.

Aren't Levy and Jose friends? I'm sure that I've seen that somewhere before?

Not that that means Jose would decide to join us, but I think that it could help the cause.

Before Jose won the CL with Porto there were reports that we were interested in him becoming our next manager. He won the CL and the rest is history.

I would imagine that he still has his place in London and he does seem to have a soft stop for us, particularly us fans as he has complemented us on more than once occassion during his time at Chelsea. Him joining is not such a crazy idea.

I know it really does count for jack in the World of modern football, but he has intimated that he was a bit of a Yid as a Kid (a bit of a fan, if not a supporter, as such).

ValenciaYid has also alluded to the fact that Mourinho has a very good relationship with Levy

Which is why, putting his good relationship with Levy, his alleged Yiddish leanings as a kid, and his pattern for taking over teams whose MO isn't to far from ours, I thinik it is within the realms of possibility that he could be interested. Of course, we wouldn't be favourites, not by a long-shot...but it is within the realms of the possible IMHO.

The basis of this thread is shockingly accurate, from what I have been told. Harry is considering his position in football as a whole right now. Wowsers!

...because of his tax naughtiness shenanigans?
I think so mate. I was having an interesting conversation on saturday in a box that was provided for Pini Zahavi, via Harry. By all accounts Harry and Levy are already discussing the way forward post Harry, the reason being Harry wanting out of the game if it looks likely to criminalise him. Contary to popular beleif Harry feels he has nothing to hide and is being made a scapegoat for money transfers in the game. Harry now also beleives he has little to no chance of succeeding the dozy italian. I have tried to confirm this with my boss, and to be fair, rightly so I think, he has denied it. It just seemed that these guys we very sure and matter of fact about everything

I have a lawyer friend who knows one of the crown legal team in this case. Seems they are VERY confident and this will be the big story of the summer.

I'm not sure. I think Mourinho is too savvy. He surely knows that this job would break him and would certainly have a negative effect on his reputation.

Unless we've 'kicked on' in one way or another when the time comes, it'd probably be too risky for him. Expectations would sky-rocket beyond all proportion and the potential for failure is too great.

Not that I don't think he'd do well. I just don't think he has the balls to take up a genuinely poisoned chalice.

I believe that when Red Nose goes, United will be far more of a poisoned chalice (have seen the latest financial figures:shrug:) - and yet folk seem more than happy, eager even, to assume that Mourinho will be offered the United job AND (more to the point) accept it.

But any perceived accomplishment from winning the league at a club like ours who has not done so for so long (like he did with Chelsea) can also be said of Man City.

The difference is at Man City he would have unlimited money at his disposal with which to achieve this.

Maybe he would also see the position as being at a rival club to Man Utd as more notorious when he locks horns once more with Sir Alex.

If he looked at both teams squads over all he might feel he has more talent at his disposal at Man City, although we are clearly a better performing unit he might think City has greater potential for him to work with and ultimately he could attain higher heights with them.

Plus I am sure the extra wage while not a motivating factor would not go a miss.

All in all personally I would expect to see him at City before us, and like you said the chances of him taking our job are very remote, much as I would love him in charge.

while I agree, he did come to us after leaving Chelsea. I know it was only to get more cash out of chelsea but still....

You may be right about that. But then he may not be that savvy and United still have reason bending cachet.

However, on the other hand, I reckon getting United, with their kind of basic but hardworking squad, to another championship will still be a more straightforward task than elevating our emotionally fragile and fey team to unparalled heights.
