I change my mind. I wont wait until the end of the season for my assessment of AVB. He has gained his Spurs as far as I am concerned, regardless of what happens for the rest of the season.
didn't want avb when he came in, my mind was changed at that oh so crucial Christmas period. I do think dl might have pulled off a masterstroke.

At least we have Kaboul coming back, may aswell play him as a striker.

Atleast he'll be able to not give away a penalty in the last couple of minutes.

Can probably do a better job than defoe and adebayor
Agreed,I'm beginning to think that anyone or no one up front would be better than the two we have.

Regarding the individuals mistakes, we can't blame Hugo, he's been outstanding so far. Walker is getting better and better recently and Defoe has been good before his injury (and in the last 2 games). The one I'm starting to worry about is Benny, really, he isn't at his normal level this year. I start to understand the ones who wants a new LB.

Jermaine Defoe has 1 goal and 1 assist in his last 13 games. He was in horrendous form before he got injured, which has been conveniently forgotten, it seems. Luckily for him, Adebayor has arguably been worse, with only 1 goal and 0 assists in his last 13 games (while missing several clear cut scoring chances).

Ade at least makes space for others and isn't selfish unlike Defoe. Well documented and continued failures are consistently ignored here regarding Lord Defoe.

I meant in the beginning of the season.
Disagree about Adebayor. He created chances last year, ok. This year, no. He's just useless.

When Spurs lose, I tend to try and forget as soon as possible and yesterday my dissertation progress benefitted. That's the only positive I got from this game lol.

This time last year we were losing 1 nil to QPR and Everton without evening looking like scoring or getting back into games when we conceded. I know I am not the only one that even when we went 1 down felt like we would get right back into the game like we did. This is a new Spurs and not something we've not done very much in the last 15 years esp away from home.

We take the positives that once again we could and should have beaten a top side away from home as per the Everton game earlier in the season. We scoring goals, creating chances and apart from the odd mistake in the last 3 months don't look like conceding.

gutted we lost but thank god i am not the only one who is a bit sensible. There are always far too many knee jerk reactions. In the match we dominated liverpool for the majority of the game, played some great football but sadly we were out done by two mistakes of our own.

We just need to go to the next game against Inter,Bang in a few goals and march on and beat Fulham next weekend and this will all be forgotten.

Please tell me this thread hasn't been overrun with the haters!!??!!

I've avoided SC since yesterday and have literally just logged on to see this thread of safety which lets me start back into it gently. I take it for some Spurs are just shit these days, full of crap players, a shit manager, and we will end up mid table again?!?! To be honest yesterday's result was a foregone conclusion given the amount of slagging we had given Liverpool fans and playes in the "what our opponents fans are saying" thread...but its all good fun.

Anyway, what I saw yesterday was a fantastic team performance let down by a few individual errors, it happens sometimes, everyone needs to accept and deal with it and move on quickly.

For me this season has already been a great one, regardless of our results from here on in. We lost so much with King, Modric, and VDV, brought in a new manager as well as seven new players in the summer. To be where we are is just incredible and beyond any expectations I had at the start of the season...I'm as proud to be a Spurs fan today as I was before the match yesterday.

Old football injuries prevent knee-jerks these days.
If you could be confident that Walker and Benny won't do the same again
then you could afford to relax and whistle a happy tune.
Everything positive that people have said on here is true
but both full backs are prone to rushes of blood and this needs to be addressed.
Leeches and boring a hole in the head used to be the cure but that seems a little over-dramatic.
We scored two goals courtesy of a centre-half
and the striker problem has been glossed over for longer than I can actually remember.

Last time we carelessly gave the game away at Everton we went on our best unbeaten run for 25 yrs
let's not just hope we do so again.
Bench Benny and Walker, give one of the youngsters a chance up front on Thursday
and put my letter for knee replacement surgery in the post for me.

Still gutted today, at least we have the Inter game coming up in a few days, we can dust ourselves off, play that and get the Pool game out of our system and then have a crack at Fulham on Sunday and hopefully go on another long unbeaten run, it's gonna be tough though.

There are plenty who agree, apart from the what happens next bit. Where we finish is everything, there is so much riding on it, the ability to attract the players we want and the ability to keep our best player.

Yesterday showed we belong in the top 3 for me. Simple got to learn that sometimes play keep ball is not the right option and good old fashioned hoof it is.

So our manager should make a rapid and rash decision to bench players because they make rapid and rash decisions?

I don't agree about starting a youngster up front against Inter. People seem to think that just "throwing some youngsters in" will instantly reveal the next wonderkid. It almost never does. Both of our lead strikers have been poor for stretches this season, but I'm pretty sure that Kane/Obika/whoever would have broken through if they were performing well enough in training.
