1 or 2 reports coming out of Italy over the last couple of days are linking us with a summer move for Inter's Adriano who is currently on loan and banging in the goals for Sao Paulo. Rumour also has it that he has stopped banging in the booze and the birds.

A revitalised Adriano is one of the few strikers in the world who if focused could step into Berba's boots (should he leave).

Maybe be Pierreb (I think that's him) who was on the ball in the ITK thread reference goings on in Italy during the transfer window knows more?

Here's a link to 1 report...

In that crazy transfer rumour that Inter saw Lennon as the "new Figo" and were about to make an offer, Adriano was mentioned as a possible exchange.

He was a good player. However, he shared his compatriot Ronaldo's ability to pack on the pounds, whilst not being quite as good a player.

As you say, I'd only be interested if we have to sell Berba AND there are "weight" clauses in Adriano's contract.

i LOVE adriano.

dunno if his attitude would be right in london though, and if he would even want to come to london regardless of the money thrown at him.

our money is better spent on a left winger, 2 central mids and a keeper, not taht people like JJ and the Hudd aren't good, it's just that there are better people out there who could help us challenge for 3rd or 4th.

Around 2003/4 with Parma, Inter & Brazil he was smashing in the goals for fun and looked for all the world that he had a chance to become the best player on the planet.

And then bang!!!!!!!

Totally off the rails and football seemed of little interest to him.

Maybe he's maturing a bit and is realising that he is wasting an incredible talent, when focused and as you say at the right weight he can still be an awesome player.

adriano has been pretty dyer for Inter (when played!!), hes lost his position in the squad, and even though he could be different in the PL, his wage demands will be 70,000/80,000 a week minimum, which is quite a expensive upkeep.....

But having said that I think with a bit of patience we could get him back to his best, and could be amazing for spurs....but it will take time!

Adriano's been wank for the last couple of years.

People seem to think he's as good as he is on Pro Evo 6.

He's not.

adriano has been shit not because of his ability but because of his lifestyle.

It's not easy to play well when you spend half your time pissed and the other half banging any bird that breathes.

when he was focused when he was younger he was a brilliant player!

IF he gets back to the player he was, he is one of the best strikers in world football. big IF though. his lifestyle is the problem yes, went off the rails after his dad passed away. still young enough to turn everything around and also his style would suit the prem

He became an alcoholic after his Dad died. I don't know about depression, but I certainly wouldn't bet against it.

Oh, did we make a bid for Adebayour (sic)? That passed us all by, then.

I seem to remember Adebayor claiming we did and us specifically coming out and saying it was bullshit? Bit strange...

I also remember nearly all of us on here not wanting him as he was a lanky streak of piss with no quality in front of goal!

That he was at the time, and last season he really had Gooners divided because his finishing was erratic, to say the least. He was also acting like a complete knob when Wenger signed him.

But yes, he did say he turned us down, and the club did say it was total bullshit, which was pretty unusual. We were never linked to him, for sure, which leads me to suspect he was prompted to say that as a wind-up.

I'm confused. Leaving aside whether he's attractive or not, I thought he was a striker, not the person responsible for changing the colour of the team's shirts!
