Who got the official motm?

Could have seen it being given to anything be out of son, kane, lamela, n'dombele.

Think kane deserved it, his passing was outrageous.

Davies was excellent tonight and deserves a run in the side now.
Sanchez, Dele also
Davies is always so underrated and under appreciated. Yet he's always the one who committed the least mistakes in almost every single match he played. The unsung hero in the team.

A great improvement to our game against Watford where our midfield hardly existed, Both Eriksen and Winks not missed tonight and I thought our midfield performed well. A booster towards our next tough game away to the scousers. COYS

Im in a wait and see mode. Sunday will tell us alot.

It certainly will if we get smashed, but on the other hand even in good periods we’ve been turned over at Anfield quite easily.

Hopefully we at least put on a decent performance.

Well that was a performance and result that we’ve cried out for. Excellent first 30mins, played at pace and pressing their defence.
To anyone saying it was only Belgrade, we played Watford on Saturday who were without a point and we were shit for a large part of that game. So this result against Belgrade was not a given at all

The commentators were being dismissive about the Red Star defence, but I think their real problem was that their midfield couldn't hang onto the ball. We must have won it, often without having to put in a tackle, about 40 times. The resulting possession in attacking areas meant that their defence was under pressure constantly. They'd try to pass out, the midfield would lose the ball and we'd flood forward, with good movement against a slow, but not incompetent defence.

Sure, there was plenty of space, but we made the acreage look bigger because everyone - Son, Lamela, both fullbacks, Ndombele, Dele and especially Kane - was drifting off markers and pulling defenders out of position.

Great performance vs albeit poor opposition but a step in the right direction.

Lots of positive:

Shape - 4231, Dele behind Kane, two wingers. Fantastic to go back to that, absolutely vital we go with that vs Liverpool, if we lose playing that then so be it but don't tinker and lose
Davies - had a great game, covered a slow and creaking Vert well and did well with his passing.
Son,Kane, Dele interchange - fantastic movement and passing, got annoyed at eachother for being greedy at times but a step in the right direction.
Kane - people were suggesting he wasn't showing up for spurs but was happy to do work for England, I argued that the reason was likely the quality of opposition and I think we can put to bed the idea that Kane isn't given his all. We need to keep the formation to continue to see these performances.
Aurier - Another fairly decent performance for him, out of everybody he has at least shown up the most of the dissenters but admittedly he's shown he's still erratic but we wait to see what possible disaster might occur vs Liverpool.
Ndombele - looked great in a midfield two, is going to be an absolute monster once he's bedded in
Dier, GLC and Foyth getting minutes - fantastic, to see them on the pitch and the more minutes we can get them to get them to full fitness the better
Ability to switch to 4-3-3 - was nice that when we made subs it was structured and we added a DM to midfield and still kept the shape with wingers.

Things to improve on:
Defence - Still a bit unorganised, think we should accept this will be a slow process especially changing personnel so often.
Vert - still not looking fit and quite slow, Davies covered him well as mentioned
Midfield partner for Ndombele - Still feel Sissoko is not the best fit, this will probably need to be sorted in Jan but the role of the partner of Ndombele should be defined and be clearly the defensive one of any duo.
Dele - thought he played well but he looked so frustrated at times, not getting ball, we need to get him feeling sweet again but this was a step in the right direction.

Going forward, the key for me is Poch shows some consistency now and sticks with this team vs Liv.

Can't help but feel slightly ominous about tonight. Naively I was expecting an improved performance against Watford but it didn't come. I think now any hope and optimism is gone. We must be a dream for opposition teams to play against at the moment.
I must have watched a different game to what you have seen. I cannot by completely disagree with your negative comments.

It’s looking difficult to bring the fifth Argie player to the club in the next TW. Dybala scored a brace to turn the result around for Juve.

Ndombele is actually the anti-Dembele.

The very thought of making a quick, low percentage, incisive pass would've given Dembele nightmares for weeks, and any mention of shooting had him on the phone to the Samaritans.

(I love Dembele)

Although Ndombele is effectively Dembeles replacement they are different type of players. TBH I can’t think of anyone similar to Dembele past or present, such a unique gem

If we lose to Pool, but play with the same desire tonight, then I will see that as a good indicator that we are doing something right. If Poch turns this around then there is nothing critics like me can say about him. I saw something in his approach tonight that looked like a good compromise on the counter-press.
