My position has always been that they would spend when everything else was in place and that seems to be what is happening, ergo I am taking the opportunity to be smug. There are many people on the "other side" who seem(ed) to think that ENIC would continue "penny pinching" in this new era.I don't know what there is to be smug about though, what ENIC have done this window is do exactly what the detractors have been complaining they do not do. Infact a lot of people who have staunchly defended ENIC to the hilt have over and over again justified why they couldn't and shouldn't do it and now are claiming moral victory despite their argument being undermined?
I'm not anti-enic by any stretch of the imagination but I'm also not a BSODL but I can clearly see the reason ENIC are being rightly praised this summer is because they've gone against their previous MO as opposed to vindicating their previous approach.
In hindsight this window seems excellent but is it any better than the Bale money window?
Time will tell
Eriksen
Soldado
Chiriches
Capoue
Lamela
Chadli
Paulinho
Well we haven't sold our best player to finance it for a start
I don’t think any of us can complain with this window. We all wanted a RB, LB, DCM and a Kane back up. 5 that can play CB already and a massive Bale cherry on top. Have we had more organised and complete transfer windows?
Are people still banging on about Enic???

As this is the ENIC thread, I'm going to start by pointing out that we've spent a ton of money this window (it will be a significant net loss even after inevitable sales), whereas we made a net profit the summer Bale left. This shows a different level of intent from the owners (in theory we could have paid more for higher calibre players in 2013).This window looks excellent but in hindsight will it be any better than the Bale money window?

I just disagree with your statement that this transfer window is "not necessarily against their (ENIC's) MO". This level of spending/incomings is completely atypical. It in no way resembles previous ENIC windows which more often than not are characterised by a minimum net spend, a sell-to-buy policy, or the sale of a significant "asset" like Bale, Berbatov, or Kean in order to fund significant incomings. This has NOT been your average, run-of-the-mill window under ENIC. And to claim otherwise is a little disingenuous mate. Personally, I couldn't be more delighted. This is easily the best transfer window I can remember; not least for all the reasons this window has diverged from the typical ENIC transfer policy MO. Let's hope it does become the norm moving forward.@[email protected] , I’d be interested to know what argument you believe has been undermined by Spurs activities in this transfer window.
