I was only opposed to Bellamy because of his injury record. He has, to be sure, been a bit of a knob, but hardly in the Barton class (he hasn't, as far as I'm aware, tried to kill a team-mate)—and he is a very good player indeed, highly underrated.
Ah yes I forgot about the injuries as well.
As far trying to kill a team mate goes, attacking riise with a golf club might be seen as attempted murder under s1(1) criminal attempts act 1981, as he satisfies the actus reus in attacking the dude, and I think it is safe to say that he probably had the mindset of wanting to cause at least GBH, which would satisfy the mens rea.
Like I said, happier with both Keane and Defoe.
