Why we will beat Arsenal and get CL

I know our next game is at west ham, and this thread isn't primarily about winning against arsenal in a single match. It's about why I feel we deserve to be at the top.

I'm watching the scum/villa game now and my impression on their play is that on their day they can absolutely spank teams, especially if that team is weak defensively. Though, for all of their intricate play in and around the box they don't score many goals unless its one of those days for them. They tore Villa apart all game yet only scored twice. But on instances where it clicks they can score 5/6. When adebayor got sent off it became one of those games and we shipped 5 :(

Sine then our seasons have gone in different directions. We were on an abysmal start to the season barring a few wins and the OT win and they were unbeaten for a fair number of games and were alright. Since then theyve been knocked out of both cups by lower league teams (one from the 4th division :ROFLMAO:) and are virtually knocked out the CL while also having poor results in the league. But, IMHO I see Arsenal and I am baffled that their season has gone this way. They have a much better squad then us. They can call upon the likes of Podolski AOX Diaby Rosicky etc and we have to deal with Dempsey Siggurdson and Livermore.

This is in no way a scum love in but i am merely highlighting the fact that we are a better 'team' at the moment. AVB has us playing the only kind of football thats effective with the squad we have. People complain about our lack of creativity/movement etc but when you are left with Dempsey Dembele and Parker as your midfield we are always going to struggle creatively. We have lost 2 of the most creative players in the world with Modric and VDV and yet we have coped. If you had asked me at the start of the season where we would finish and i would have said we'd be lucky to get Europa league.

We are on a run of 1 loss in the last 14 league games and are unbeaten in europe. Now, it hasn't been pretty for the most part but we have become a near unbeatable team in the past 3/4 months. When you have a solid defense and a team working for each other you will win games. I look at Arsenal and their defense is a shambles compared to ours. They usually have Arterta and Wilshere in midfield and that is in no way a solid hold. Those players will provide a lot going forward, but apart from wilshere on occasion they will not provide much protection to the back 4. They always look to be vulnerable to conceding. Considering we looked to be blowing them away in the first 20 mins at the last meeting even before we were in good form gives me hope.

Anyway, as i am typing this i am becoming more and more convinced we will do this. As they say form goes out the window in derbys but we are a much better team than them atm, we have a will to win no matter what. We have stopped conceding late goals and feeling sorry for ourselves and have learned to score those of our own and keep it tight.

We will win against Arsenal and we will completely deserve it, here is why:

For the past 7/8 years there is no team with such a progressive form of improvement in the league than us. In the modern age of sugar daddies we have found a way (thanks to a certain Daniel Levy (y)) to slowly improve season after season on a consistent basis, despite selling our best players. This culminated in out first Cl season eventually beating Milan to progress into the QF against Madrid. Compare this to Man City who have yet to even get past the group stages.

Last season for the first 2/3 we were the best team in Europe to watch bar Barcelona IMVHO. We were sensational and deserved all the plaudits we were given. It was the height of Levy's squad building after years and years of painstaking work. Our (of course imo) moron of a manager took his eye off the ball and led us to an abysmal run and even then we still finished in the top 4. Regardless of our late season collapse we still deserved CL, we had worked for years and years and years towards it and proved and were an example to the rest of the league that you didn't need a billionaire backer to achieve success. To then lose out that spot to the most anti football display in recent football history Chelsea, the very type of team we are trying to stick it to was just heartbreaking. With them showing how devoid they are of any class this season and last (terry racist incident, di matteo sacked, martin clattenburg, cashley shooting youth player, hazard kicking ball boy and countless other incidents) it was a slap in the face to us that a team so vile could so undeservedly gain success. They were even the first CL winners to not make it out the group stages.

Arsenal imo deserve to lose their CL spot. While I hate them just as much as chelsea, I actually have a bit of respect for them. But, they have shown zero ambition in the past 8/9 years and are just milking the money and stability that CL gives you. If we were in their position there is no way we as a club would tolerate that.

We lost 3 of our best players from last season and have had a drastic restructuring of the club this summer. The squad is nowhere near in quality as it was and yet we are a much better team overall. Why is this? because of AVB. I haven't felt such a unity at Spurs since the MJ days and even then it wasn't like this. You add this team and club spirit and everything i have said about our ambition and why I think we are a model club doing things the right way and this is why we deserve to be at the top.

And we will do it.

I thought we were going to win 17 minutes into the Emirates game and we indeed should have because we were far better than them and that was even without Dembele, and then Ade got sent off and it all changed.

What I do know is that for all our perceived weaknesses, there is no team in the league that is as deadly as we are on the counter attack, except maybe United. That's why any smart team we've played against has tried to starve us of that opportunity. I think if there's an argument to be made about why we should be Arsenal it's because AVB is tactical and Wenger is dogmatic, Wenger doesn't give a shit that we are good at counter attacking he will just want Arsenal to control possession in our half and it will cost them. AVB on the other hand will probably watch videos of their wins and losses, like their games against Milan and Bayern, and come up with a game plan to beat them. So barring any freak event like what happened at the Emirates in the last derby, I think we will win this game.

I think that means we sit back somewhat so they attack us and leave space in behind. Their defense is fragile and our defense is very solid and that should be the difference between the teams imo.

If Defoe is back and we play 4-4-2 think we win easily. They wont cope with the atmosphere and the pressure and szceny will make another howler.

I think playing 4-4-2 may prove our downfall against the scum, i would play 4-5-1 with holtby's energy on the left and bale in a free role behind Ade, with scott, azza and moussa the other 3.... the scum are strongest in the midfield area so we must not get outnumbered there, its still an attacking formation but one that won't give them a numerical advantage in the one area where they can and usually hurt us...coys!

How ever we do it we have to win against the scum - they have a seriously easy run in with the only hard game being against united and even then united will already have won the league so motivation levels may well be less.

The scum have games against reading qpr Norwich Fulham Wigan Newcastle and WBA - it's difficult to see them dropping too many points in those games

We still have citeh chelski Liverpool Everton and stoke to play

Without getting three points on Sunday I can't see us finishing ahead of them particularly with the Europa games against inter Milan sandwiching the game against Liverpool

So they're going to be playing three (Newcastle possibly being the fourth) teams who will be fighting like bastards for points to avoid relegation.

We'll play City, whose season is effectively over. Liverpool, whose season is definitely over. Everton, who will surely be showing the strains of their small squad come April. Stoke, who by May will have nothing to play for.

Playing against poor teams at the back end of the season doesn't mean it's an easy run in. Look at all the points we dropped in the last couple of seasons against those same teams.

Was just gonna say exactly the same thing! I don't think playing those teams at the end of the season will make for an easy run in!

Let's get Spam out the way first. Don't forget Arse will be up for this too, it's their only chance of any sort of redemption for their terrible season so far. It will be very tough, and Arsenal have plenty of players who know how to find the back of the net (Walcott, Podolski, Giroud). Anything can happen in the NLD.

Let's take it one game at a time. Win tomorrow, then think about spanking them. As I've said elsewhere, if we win our next two, we'll be in the driving seat for 4th and be hunting for 3rd, or even 2nd.

By the way hoping for a Shitty draw against Chelscum today.

Le Arse' next game after ours is home to Everton, who will be right up for that game. If they win it it could bring them right back into the frame. Then Le Arse are away to Swansea in the league having played at Beyern in between Everton and Swansea. That doesn look like an easy bunch of games to me. I know it's ifs and buts at the moment, but if we win our games we could open up a significant gap by the time Le Arse go to Swansea.

Let's be positive guys, less of the negative thought waves!! :)

Ha. Maybe if it was 'Why we CAN beat....' then ye.

fair enough. I just hope AVB's pre match talks don't include 'can' and 'maybe'. Hope he instills some self belief and not some inferiority complex because of whats happened in the past with a different squad and manager

I cant rely on spurs for anything. Doesnt matter what manager, squad etc theres always a fuck up in us. Its why, i fully expect us to get turned over on monday night, nothing to do with squad etc but just because thats the sort of thing that happens to us.

Positive bastard ain i ha.
