Name me players in Sanchez class that are much cheaper ?

Carlos Vela (Arsenal could have gotten him back for basically nothing), Greizmann, Valbuena, Mertens. They could have bought Vela and Greizmann who had 32 goals and 15 assists between them in the league last season for the same price as Sanchez and those two are playing for a much lesser team.

None of those players are as good as Sanchez imo, Vela LOL comparing him with Sanchez....Greizman 24m ...hardly much cheaper.

Oh I didn't know you were the universal decider of players quality. Sorry for not agreeing with you. £10m isn't a lot of money to you? Wow, you must be flush!

LOL........ LOL... LOL.. LOL.....

Nah, I'm talking about the 'bigger' club delusion and the assumed arrogance they adopted on becoming competitive with poch in charge. The shit they came out with when we were after poch was unforgivable as far as I'm concerned (and I read a lot of it). They can rot.

Don't feel anything for them at all and certainly don't want any of our good players going there.

So you'd wipe a club out for a few of their fans responses about us? I doubt the majority of intelligent Southampton fans were saying it. Just a few nutters. But I guess there are just as many other fans who hate Spurs for the moronic things that are said about their club on here.

Sorry disagree.....Ozil had a poor first season, but he is class and a WC winner, and 30m for Sanchez is money well spent imo..MU paid 27m for Fellaini, Liverpool 35m for Carroll, we paid 17m and 26m for Paulinho and Soldado that is paying top prices for mediocre players imo.......i would take Sanchez all day for 30m.,

Sorry can't agree with Ozil being class. He had a poor WC too. Remember he couldn't score against Brazil when they won 7-1 despite being clean through when they were 7-0 up and still managed to miss. Over rated, over priced and over here.

Thats fine.....i can list you a host of players who have had a poor first season at a new club, but not many that won the WC in that same year.....RM fans were not very happy when he was sold, but what do they know.

RM went on to win the CL's without him and I defy anyone to say that they are not a better team now they've replaced him. And if you do a poll now, how many of those RM fans would want him back tomorrow? And yes he might have had a bad first season at Arsenal. This season will tell us if he's still got it or not.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed he'll still be shite!

So Angelotti is also better then Jose ? .... he replaced him at RM...i don't think thats how it works.

England won the WC final when Hurst replaced the Greaves....who was class?

Yep, I think Ancelotti is a better coach. Honestly, i think Mourinho is hugely over rated. And Hurst got a hat trick in the final, a little more than Ozil achieved.

Your argument seems a little flawed @goughie1966 . They replaced Özil with Bale, who is a better player. They didn't win the CL because they sold Özil, they won it because they improved the quality of their squad with the signing of Bale. Özil had a good world cup, and unless you're Arbeloa, I don't think it's possible to play every game at a world cup, win the world cup and yet have had a bad tournament

Why do you think Mourinho is overated?

I just think he was extremely fortunate with Porto. Scholes scored a perfectly good header against Porto which a blind linesman called offside when it wasn't. Who knows where Mourinho would be had that goal stood. We'll never know. I don't think his achievements at Chelsea are anything to go by when you think of the money he spent there and everywhere else he's been.

He'll win the league again this year with Chelsea and everyone will say what a great manager he is. But he's been buying up players left, right and centre again and Chelsea now have 70 players on their books. Anything less than winning the league is a failure for them. I hope City can push them all the way and nick it.

I also think he is very defensive and is more about stopping teams rather than beating them. I believe it's easier to coach a team when you're not trying to win games. His sides are very boring to watch too. Just look at the way RM behaved in the El Classico's. He couldn't beat Barcelona without trying to kick them off the field. He has no class either. He's anti flair players too.

He got rid of Robben, he destroyed Joe Cole's career and he's doing his best to destroy Hazard's. Even Ronaldo was miserable as sin while he was in charge. It's interesting to see how Ronaldo is now under Ancelotti. As a Spurs fan I've been brought up watching exciting, flair players. Sure it doesn't win all the time compared to the George Graham and Mourinho school of football but I know what I'd prefer to watch.

However, I do think he is the best man manager in the game. Players who play for him, obviously love him. And he can get the best out of players and the majority look like they'd die for him.

But I have more respect for Fergie and Wenger than I will ever have for him.

From Saints fans considering who they could bring in.

How most of us feel about Dawson:
I'd take Holtby, less so Dawson. Slow, error-prone, only gets any sort of reputation because he's "brave" and "puts his body on the line" (usually because he's let his man have three yards of space first).

Holtby looked a prime contender to start for Spurs with the way he was pressing in their preseason friendly I watched on the weekend. He'd have been a great signing last season, not sure he'd be available now.

Loose rumours we are going to sign Vlad Chiricheș and Holtby from Spurs.. They could certainly do with shifting a few (especially midfielders).
Holtby would certainly make a good addition.

Sorry i am confused..... you say...''he is the best manager in the game'', in answer to me asking you why you think he is ''hugely overated.''

They replaced their manager too which was probably the best thing. And referencing Bale strengthens my arguement. Bale will never win a WC yet Ozil has. Just a quirk of fate that one was born in Germany and the other Wales. Just because he won a WC doesn't make him a great player. And seriously, he was poor in the WC.

Yeah but being born in Germany didn't give him the right to play every game during the world cup. Just because he's not a flashy player and wasn't scoring every game, it doesn't mean he didn't contribute to their world cup win. I'm not saying he was a standout player, but Germany have enough players in reserve to replace under performers, and Özil stayed in the team throughout.

Anyway, should probably get this thread back on topic, head over to saintsweb would ya?
