Again I agree, but again I struggle to see exactly where we can make this change. If the change in attitude needs to come from the manager, then I think it would be too big of a risk to twist on a non-Pochettino manager; and if the change it attitude needs to come from senior pros in the team then I'm struggling to think of names that we could realistically sign who would bring in that attitude whilst also having the required technical quality.

I agree with the diagnosis, but the treatment still seems very tricky indeed.

I agree with that, a lot of it you are just hoping that professional people want to get better and are striving to improve - and the unfortunate truth is that things may not.

There's a lot of people who work at the club though in whatever capacity, I'd like to think people see what has occurred, the patterns, and where improvements can come from.

If I ever met Pochettino then I'd have literally hundreds of questions for him about all sorts of small technical things that go into the 90 minutes of football that I don't like from us virtually every week. Some of them very much under our control, if I the average fan is seeing them and can suggest improvements, then I very much expect it from professionals paid god knows how much money.

I was lucky enough to have a ticket and be in Madrid last night and I was absolutely gutted at FT like everyone else.

Just like any other loss I thought about the missed chances, the team selection and decision making during the game etc and after a few hours sleep (in Madrid airport) I woke up and thought about the fact I'd just witnessed my team in a Champions League final. Something that most football fans will never get to experience.

The fan zone was like no other atmosphere I have ever experienced, the singing was absolutely relentless, it never let up and there was a minute where I just stopped to take it all in and felt as emotional as I did at the full time whistle against Ajax.

The fans were magnificent in the stadium and we were so close to willing the ball in the back of the net but we just didn't quite do enough. But we'll be back, some reinforcements in the summer and we'll be bang up there competing for more trophies.

Cheesy post of the year coming up, but heartfelt and sincere nevertheless:

In the Champions League Final, we played the team who are now officially champions of Europe and there really was nothing much between us in terms of quality.

Before that we played the team that many people still believe are the best team in Europe, and we knocked them them out.

And in the meantime we qualified for next year’s CL. Which our traditional rivals failed to do.

All in a season blighted by last year’s World Cup, no preseason, unbelievable injuries and of course no home ground for most of the time.

Once the disappointment of last night’s somewhat bizarre turn of events has worn off, I think we’ll see there’s a pretty good foundation on which to build the next phase of our club’s history, rather than just regretting what so nearly could have been.

So to repeat what I’ve been saying all along:

It's time to freshen up the squad. I think Toby can go, Lamela love him but its time, Eriksen, Tripps and Aurier gone, need to bring in a left back, some defensive midfielders, creative midfielder. Easy to point out who needs to go but its hard to find suitable replacements.

Frankly I'm over yesterday already. It was an epic journey and we've qualified for the CL again.

If anything I'm excited for next season already. We start in our brand new stadium, the noise is that we will be spending and we should be optimistic (although we were spun that one last season...).

As long as our board take the lessons learnt from the Liverpool model and react accordingly I dont see any reason to be negative. If we move on Toby, Eriksen, Trippier, Aurier and some fringe players (Maybe with a surprise departure or two) in addition to the TV money, prize money from the CL and wasn't there ITK saying the figures mentioned for ground sponsorship were 'staggering' but won't be announced until the summer? We should have more than enough to freshen and improve the squad, ready for a proper go next season

But if we let four go and only replace with four then we are back to the same problems as this year, lack of depth and rotation so that doesn't really push us on much.

Absolutely. So many people here seem to be misinterpreting "the end of the beginning" as "the beginning of the end" or even just "the end" that it's making me even sadder than I otherwise would be this morning.

I think that because we have not bought for a couple of windows it will take a couple more to get the squad right, so I can't see us being in a position to compete for trophies for a while yet sorry to say.

I think we all agree on what has been achieved in the CL , getting top 4 again and the absolute need to boost the squad to make it more robust and competitive in the areas regularly mentioned.
I think it has gone a bit unmentioned, just how we stumbled over the line to get that top4 place, basically thanks to Arsenal and Man Utd( in particular) having a total shambles of an end of season. If we had finished 5th and then suffered this defeat, I think things would look much worse. As it is, we have been given a somewhat fortunate chance to at least retain our status as one of the top 4 challengers rather than slip back towards Everton, Leicester, Wolves etc.
It will truly be mis-management of the highest order if the club do not strengthrn this squad. No longer can we allow ourselves to be in a position where we had no attacking substitutes on the bench for a CLSF or half fit players in the team or being forced to play too much. We need at least 2 creative midfield options ( eriksen plus another or if he leaves 2 new players) and a proper striker back up for Kane( like Origi for Liverpool) .
Poch worked miracles to get what he did out of this squad this season but, even he, would not have made top 4 without 'help' from Arsenal and Man Utd . Even if we do strengthen, so wll they, so its only about trying to stay competitive in that top 6( the CL hopefuls) and avoid the Europa hopefuls.

No need to panic, because we understand how all that happened.

I know this is an unpopular view, but fatigue and injuries are a fatal combination and it doesn’t mean that brilliant players are suddenly not good enough.

We need more in, that’s for sure. Quality and depth, both are needed.

But we don’t need to talk ourselves into thinking that we don’t have one of the best teams in Europe to build on.
