It's a loan swap. Petrov for Bentley.

Still does'nt make any sense RY. Petrov is into his last year of his contract. Surely Citeh would be looking to get a fee for him. As much as a flop DB has been for us so far he still has the potential to get his form back and get a place in our starting 11. Especially more considering we have Crouch upfront now!

Man City are going to be one of our biggest rivals this season. I just don't see the logic in making them stronger

Agree, unless of course it is to make us stronger.

With King always going to be touch and go about being able to play, and the likes of Hutton and Corluka in a habit of making mistakes in every match, and Woodgate still injured (when is he due back?) I wish we were bringing in Richard Dunne along with Petrov.

Sooner or later we will need to find a replacement for King.

I agree we should definitely pull out all the stops to stop Bentley going on loan to recapture his form in a team he will barely feature in.I have no confidence that Petrov,Kranjcar,Lennon,Gio,Modric,Huddlestone,Palacios nor Defoe have the abilities to get the ball to the lanky man up top..........NOT

HAving read the Man Shitty forums they seem to be alot more worried about Petrov improving us than Bentley improving them, there is alot of love for Petrov on there. Apparently their player of preseason.

If it's going to happen I hope we get it sorted before midday. Gives us 5 hours with some oil money should we wish to make a final bid for anyone.

If it's oil money we buy Petrov and have some left for Petrol.

I'm here for another 5 hours folks!

I think we've done that already in Bassong, I think he can really be the next King in a couple of seasons
Same here. Seb looks an excellent buy so far. That would give us Woodie, Seb & Daws fighting for the first choice CB spots which would be healthy. We still need another to give us proper cover, but the 4th CB should be a good youngish prospect who won't get too narked warming the bench for much of the time.

It makes sense because, despite his public support, the drink driving was the last straw for Harry. No clubs are going to want to give us our money back on a player who has massive question marks currently hoveing over him.

This way Harry lays down a marker to the rest of the squad on what kind of behaviour will be tolerated here, Bentley gets a chancea chance to play, if he finds form his market value will rise and we can recoup our cash, and we finally get someone who has pace and can cross for the left flank.

Is bentley really going to be able to dislodge swp from the right sided berth at Citeh? I think this move says more about harry getting rid of a trouble maker and bringing in a grafter. I'm loving the fact Petrov is coming other way. Yeah it should have happened two years ago but who cares. This could be a really good last day of the window.

Bentley will have the same problem at city as he does with us, he'll be on the bench as isnt good enough for their starting 11.

brilliant move, It stops either of them going for a better player than Bentley and lets face it we're not going to play him much anyway. THe money will go twoards andother player and help make out net spend this summer look very impressive

Kanjcar can cover Lennon as well as modric + we can go 433 anyway

Think Petrov is a poor passer of a football.
a great crosser but easy passes go astray regularly. much prefer playing with one winger and an AM like Modric/Kranjcar for balance

Can't see the point in signing Petrov and Kranjcar myself, and why a loan for Bentley and not permanent? Kranjcar can cover 3 positions as can GDS, Modric and Bale, Petrov can only play one position.

I agree... But just passing on the info... Doesn't mean it's definitely gonna happen.

I see what your saying and I would rather keep Bentley, he had only left spurs lodge about 45 mins ago so it would seem unlikely that he will be able to get to Manchester in time anyway, but Petrov is quick and can cross a ball better than anybody in our squad at present.

If we can get him on a free, keep Bentley then it is all good.

Think Harry's just giving himself more problems.

No way he is going to keep all these players happy... It now seems he has got Crouch into the starting line-up so in the remaining 3 attacking positions he has to keep; Defoe, Keane, Pav, Modric, Kranjcar, Petrov, Lennon, GDS and Bale all happy...

I don't think so sonny jim

They could surely fly to Manchester pretty speedily if they really wanted him there?

They could indeed, but could they do it without the media catching wind of it? Even then, it would still take him at least a couple of hours to get to an airport/strip fly there and then get to Manchester's training ground and a have a medical?

I'm pretty sure things can be done subject to medicals. When Dawson arrived from Forest we didn't complete his medical till gone midnight on deadline day and that was still registered in time (somehow).
