Let the bidding war commence.

I think if we get a good £11-12mil for him, aswell as bring in Krancjar and Petrov, we'll be better off all round.

But I'm still praying for a Palacios backup to come in tomorrow

Right on!unless harry feels that he can do no more with bentley, then we should still be trying to get the best from him!

If Liverpool have big 9m, it shows where clubs think his value lies - about 2/3 of what it was last year. If City have any interest, unlikely to be over 12m I'd have thought.

Shooting ourselves in the foot if we sell him. Sods law will mean Lennon is bound to pick up a knock with England, then we're left with fuck all creativity.

It is as much about weakening us as it is strengthening them in City's case, especially leaving thier bids so late so that we cannot bring anyone in. It won't be the first or last time City practice a bit of tactical bidding. If we're anywhere near them in the table come January I can see a bit of disruptive interest coming in for someone like Lennon too.

Agree with you totally there. I think if a deal is to be done, it will involve Petrov so we replace winger for winger and aren't left short. If it does come off, I'd expect upwards of £12m + Petrov. I'd hoped and thought we were passed the days of signing injury prone 30+ year olds, but then Harry does have a proven record of extracting big things from players deemed not good enough, but the point being I don't think we'll be left short on numbers for a replacement in the creativity department. I personally would rather we kept Bentley, and gave the players we have a chance wide, Dos Santos, Rose. Jenas is the one I'd let go if we need to balance the books, as the central AM role can be filled by Hudd, Modric, Kranjcar (if he does/has signed) but the DM role can only be filled by Wilson, reinforcements are needed there. That is the key role that needs filling over and above juggling the Bentley situation, or signing James. With Bentley I think it's a case of if it aint broke don't fix it, but I think if Harry does decide to cash in, we'll have a suitable replacement bought in. I'd even be tempted to ask for Onouha, can play RB/CB/DM.

If it's going to happen I hope we get it sorted before midday. Gives us 5 hours with some oil money should we wish to make a final bid for anyone.
