I actually think Kerevi knows what he’s doing in that incident as well. He’s got previous. Almost ended Halfpennys career with a definite bit of deliberate foul play (that he disguised quite well as an innocent charge down)

He said after the game “that’s the way I carry” which is a total load of bollocks because he doesn’t carry like that all the time. Patchell was just on and he was targeting him which is fair enough but not with a leading arm like that. It’s all well and good telling 6 ft 8 in guys you need to go lower or you need to be more careful when charging out on the blitz defence but we’re not telling ball carriers (who are blatantly looking to do a power carry- which is kind of like the offensive equivalent to a big hit you saw with Lavanini) you can’t go leading with a forearm up to the head. Tacklers, don’t lead with a shoulder, ball carriers yeah you are all good to lead with a forearm.

See, I didn’t really see any initial impact to the chest. On one of the angles it’s straight to the head. On the other angle perhaps ever so slightly impact is on the chest but it’s minimal, but no one can doubt it then goes right up to his neck and face. The talk then should’ve been is it a yellow or red, under the current framework I would’ve understood if they said there’s slight impact with the chest before going up to his head so it’s a yellow I would’ve thought at least there’s some consistency.

Wasn't that what they went with in the end?

Nope. Just a pen.

Ah. Was convinced he got a yellow for that.

Well I don't think it's remotely on the same level as the shoulders to the head, but yeah if they are serious about protecting players then any sort of forearm leading runners probably need at least a yellow.

Just sad that we’re talking more about red cards and typhoons than the rugby and there’s been some great games/results.

Bit disappointed turning the rugby on just now.

I thought Wales were playing the Uruk hai. :(

Edit: They're certainly fighting though! Can they keep it up in the 2nd half? Doubt it.

Who is the chairman of World Rugby again?......... oh yes, that’s right, Bill Beaumont. Ex English Rugby player with a French surname. Coincidence? I think not.

France v England final guaranteed.

What? the Question of Sport guy?

I’ve been saying for what seems like months that Japan will beat Scotland now I’ve changed my mind. Scotland to win. They need the bonus point though.

I think I'd quite like Japan to win.

Did the Wales B team impress you?

There we go. A sensible decision for once but one that goes against what we’ve seen so far. No consistency

Looked to me like a clash of heads as Gray attempted to tackle round the upper chest / shoulders. Correct decision, I thought.

It was, but in the current climate he would’ve seen yellow by a lot of other refs.

He is typically more lenient o’Keefe

This is a good match for the neutral to watch.

If England's handling was as good as Japan's, I might even fancy them for the tournament!
