Yeah, I guess it really depends on the situation for me. I hate playing 3atb vs teams that we are going to straight up dominate but I like the availability to use it when in theory it should allow us to defend better against our top 6 opposition and difficult champions league opponents. The problem is really our current midfielders aren't good enough for it and neither is our RB.

I agree, but I'd say Trippier is far worse in a flat back 4 than with 3CBs.

We need a proper ball playing midfield player to replace dembele, a top class Eriksen replacement (assuming he’s off) and a top class RB.

Just the Dembele and Eriksen replacements are going to be between £50m-£70m each you’d imagine and another £30m-£40m for a good RB. I just can’t see us laying out that much but then we should get a good fee for Eriksen so it’s doable but forget spending £30m multiple times as that gets you fuck all these days. I think we’ll need a couple of £60m plus outlays and that’s what I find hard to believe. Balls in shineheads court I guess.

Id make Havertz, Brandt & Wan-Bissaka my prime targets this summer.

Dele can help out in midfield if need be, he's versatile enough to do so. If Alderweireld leaves add Andersen to that list.

Left back isn't as crucial as right back. Sadly Trippier is a Beta male and gets shrugged off to easy. Weak link even when he plays Ok

What fucking stupid timing for an article, Balague is a nonce.
He might be - but I thought this passage was spot on:

"But football teams are like families; familiarity can breed contempt. It also breeds the certainty that there isn't anyone about to be brought in to kick your feet away from under the table.

The result of this has been the losing of matches that should have been won. Away defeats at Watford, Southampton and Burnley and a home loss against Wolves are indicative of a side that is not as good as it would like to think it is."

It's the premise of the article I take issue with mostly. How can he possibly suggest that Poch has taken the club as far as he can when we've been in a transitional phase and as Poch has said the chapter only closed on Wednesday, it's such a stupid article to release at this time it genuinely irritates me that he's been given money to peddle this nonsense.

In regards to the bit you link however I completely agree, we are very arrogant, especially the Wolves and Southampton games we were playing like the 3 points were already ours and overplayed significantly and didn't finish the games, we have an undeserved arrogance at times and I agree with the article in the sense that because of the lack of business certain players are too comfortable. Mistakes are not seen as a risk to your place in the 11 for some and to be competitive we need to add significant quality to the point where no player is safe.

One caveat I'll say is, This current squad has gone as far as it can and that needs changing but the man in charge does not.

Maybe, just maybe, Balague is putting this out there in a sort of 'mouthpiece' way, to give Levy a bit of a shove in the backing/signing department.

Footballs dark arts & all.

Balague can go fuck a donkey, he’s nothing but another serial liar, he’s just given more credibility because we had a Mediterranean accent, tan, swarthy beard and wears his shirt untucked over his jeans.
