When we talk about Poch, and his adjustments or ability to change tactics - I think that is underrated at times.

One of the things I picked up on tonight was how often we switched fields with a cross in the attacking third - to the opposite FB - who was always open. Given that we rarely do that, I think someone on the coaching staff picked up that City have their FBs pinch in, leaving the outside exposed. There must have been 6-7 times we did that tonight, and it created chances for Trippier and Rose to hit balls back across the box for some decent chances.
I’ll always remember Mourinho doing that in the CL SF with Inter against Guardiolas Barcelona at the San Siro. It was very effective and they won 3-1.

There are quotes from Van Gaal saying his criticism of Guardiola is that he pushes both of his fullbacks up high. You can see that the shortage of numbers staying back leaves them vulnerable to a cross field pass into the half space. It was noticeable that the player receiving it in that space changed...a full back... son... even Sissoko once...

Poch has done very well to get us exploiting it and I would expect te same weakness to manifest at the Etihad, especially if the game stays at 0-0 for a while. Even once city have scored once or twice, they are still vulnerable to just a single goal. They will have to push wingbacks up. They will be very effective going forward but one good counter attack...

I said it before and its more pertient now but true ambition is trying to do something special with us rather than being another name at a elite club where trophy after trophy comes regardless of who is in charge. This man orchestrated a masterclass against the odds tonight.

I am often Poch's biggest critic, but today my hat goes off to him. He overcame what is my biggest gripe with him.

Its weird because today was such fine margins and would have been angry not to go through considering that his record against decent teams is poor.

However he done a fantastic job considering the constraints we were under today. Insane.

However I don't think Ajax are by any means a given and could knock us out imo

I must admit I questioned him for not taking a more defensive stance when we were 2-1 and his inactivity at half time regarding formation/subs. I therefore officially apologise to the man. With what people he had at his disposal he played a blinder.

When city had the disallowed goal I felt so so sorry for poch. He probably thought how does that Baldy get all of the toys he wants and I get nothing

Seeing poch celebrate at the end had me in tears
