One change to the team that started against United in midweek as Eric Dier returns in place of Harry Winks. Winks (ankle) and Tanguy Ndombele (groin) miss out today.

Referee: __ __ Kevin Friend

Team Form: ___ SPURS DWWWL ______ BURNLEY LWWLL ____ (All Competitions)

Burnley won their last PL match against us 2-1 at Turf Moor in February. They last won consecutive top-flight games against us back in April 1975. They have lost their 28 PL games in London (75%), winning 3 and drawing 4. Since beating West Ham 3-0 in March 2018, the clarets have lost 7 of their 8 such games (D1), conceding 23 goals in the process.

Burnley won their last away league game against 3-0 against Watford - they've not won consecutive league games on the road since a run of 3 in April 2018. They have completed just 38 sequences of 10 or more passes in open play this season, fewer than any other PL team and 150 fewer than we have managed (188).

We have won 7 of our last 8 home games against Burnley in all competitions (D1) since a 1-4 defeat in the league cup in January 1983. We have conceded twice in each of Mourinho's first 4 matches in charge in all competitions. We haven't conceded two or more goals in five consecutive games since Feburay 2004 under David Pleat.

Son has been directly involved in 13 goals in his 14 appearances at our new stadium in all competitons, more than any other player (8 goals, Assists). He averages a goal involvement every 83 minutes at the ground, compared to 1 every 101 minutes at Wembley and 1 every 93 minutes at the old White Hart Lane. Dele is scoring a goal every 85 minutes under Jose, compared to 1 every 374 under Poch. He last scored in 3 consecutive PL games in March 2017.

Mourinho has faced Burnley at home more often without winning than he has any other side in all competitions in his managerial career, though all 3 such games against them have ended level (1 with Chelsea and 2 with Man Utd).

Gonna be interesting to see how we set up tomorrow. Burnley being Burnley, surely we won't try and out-long ball them so maybe we'll see a couple more ball players in the line up. I imagine we'll line up like we did against Bournemouth, though:

Gazza
Aurier Sanchez Toby Jan
Ndombele Dier
Sissoko Alli Son
Kane
I really want Lo Celso to start but it's difficult to see how we fit him into this system. If we play him instead of Sissoko we're light defensively down that flank, and there's no way Jose drops Son or Alli. On top of that, he didn't even mention him as a potential CM option in his presser. I suspect he'll be on the bench for the foreseeable future unless Alli gets injured and/or we change to a 4-3-3.

Simple must win. At home vs. an inferior team on paper, but a team that isn't that far behind us in terms of points. Crucial to win.

I think we'll really struggle
We just dont seem to be able to deal with any high balls into the box and thats Burnleys go to. Glad its not on tv after Man U performance or rather the lack of it.

Not looking forward to this.

Hoping JM fields a creative side.

Me neither. Not exactly the kind of team you want to face when really needing a victory.

Do you remember the game last season and Hart’s timewasting then as soon as we scored near the end he was sprinting to take goal kicks. Same with the throw ons, I’dnever seen teams time wasting from throw ons after 5 minutes before.

Agree, we saw everything in that game that has made us so ineffective in the late era of Pochettino. Harry dropping back to midfield instead of attacking the box, slow counterattacks and countless back passes. Hope to see a more direct Tottenham tomorrow. COYS

Yeah was incredibly frustrating.

We need more creativity tomorrow, we know what's coming.

I'm so sick of our slow starts as well.

I love "Burnley haven't won consecutive League games against us since 1975."

"Calling Doctor Tottenham...Doctor Tottenham, please report to your as-yet-unnamed, non-fortress new stadium immediately, please! Patient Burnley needs a bit of assistance, post haste!"

I’m supposed to go today but I’m horrifically hungover. Don’t know if I can handle the Seven Sisters. And the walk back. Is this why our atmosphere is shit?

Was behind the goal we scored in and everyone was going ape shit. The win made the victory so much sweeter because of their time wasting and, which started from the first minute and the ref did absolutely nothing about. Infact, he went to speak to Joe Hart about it when burnley was making a sub and because the ref was preoccupied with Hart the player being subbed off walked as slowly as possibly.

The shit we gave Hart while he stood on he penalty spot and looked back at us was a joy to be a part of.

Yeah I was in there with you. At the time it was the sweetest victory I’d experienced for quite a while.

I think that keeping a clean sheet would be nearly as important as getting a win today. We SO need one for our defensive confidence.

1-0 would be a better result for us than 4-1 today, IMO.

Doubt is spreading but I don’t see. Im confident in getting a result, but let’s see if the lads can last 90 minutes.
