Simple question - With both sides on top form who would win in a one off encounter and who would win over the course of a season?

Redknapp's Spurs

-----------------------Friedal
Walker--------King-------Gallas-------BAE
Lennon-----Modric------Parker--------Bale
-------------------------VDV
-----------------------Crouch
Poch's Spurs

---------------------------------Lloris
Walker-------Alderwiereld----------Vertonghen---------Rose
-------------------------Dier-------------Alli
----------------Lamela------Dembele-------Erikssen
-----------------------------------Kane

Bale's the difference. Unstoppable back then for us.

Redknapp's.

Poch's team has the legs no doubt. But that midfield triumvirate of Parker, Modric and VDV; King at the back; and Gareth Bale shitting all over Kyle Walker.

I don't think Redknapp would play Crouch over Adebayor.

The team at the end of Redknapp's reign contained World Class players. They'd win at the moment.

Let's see where we are in 2 years.

I would say Poch's team but only just, if Redknapp had the Ledley King before the injuries had taken the toll, then Harry's team would win.

This current spurs team are exactly the sort of hard grafting team that we would always fail to beat when redknapp was in charge

So I will have to go for the current team to win as the old one wouldn't cope with the industry of the new one

I'm not so sure. I think Poch's team would suffocate Parker and Modric and they would resort to long balls to Crouch. Its also far from being defensively solid down those flanks

Very optimistic. The likes of Cambiasso, Gattuso and Essien struggled to suffocate Modric... we're talking a genuine world class playmaker there. And I genuinely don't think Lamela and Erisken would get much joy out of Scott Parker.

As individuals you're right, but the beauty of Poch's team is that they are greater than the sum of their parts. Lamela, Erikssen, Dembele and Kane all bearing down on you is what forces errors even in some very capable playmakers like Cazorla and Yaya Toure (they looked completely bereft of ideas when we put the press on)

I have a feeling that whilst Modric would cope, Parker would not and the defense would resort to the long ball.

Would they be getting the ball off them though? And would Kane get anywhere against King? I genuinely think today's team wouldn't be able to stop Modric, VDV and Bale.

Absolutely, they had much more class about them than this team.

However I would like to think this team can improve over the coming years and hopefully surpass the 4th place finishes of Harry's team.

You simply can't suffocate Modric. That's why he was the best CM in the Prem at his peak. Can remember him dancing around Chelsea's midfield all afternoon when we beat them 2-1 at the Lane and Terry got sent off. What a performance that was!

Poch team to win a one off because it's tight, fit, compact and hard to break down. Which is what caught us short in the redknapp era. He couldn't do that too bigger sides and couldn't break down those that did it to us.

Sadly teams can still do that to us now though.

If it's Bale from Redknapp's team he was far from unstoppable. He was good, but inconsistent. It was under AVB that he was unstoppable.

Fully agree, for me Modric was the outstanding individual under Redknapp with Parker adding a Dier like protection for us. However maybe my memory serves me badly but even though Redknapp's team is stronger on paper we had quite a lot of injuries and our cover/depth wasn't always great so we didn't always have the best team ready.
