I gave up watching after the first half. Good thing too by the looks of it.

Stoke? Seriously? FFS.

Please please please, stop playing Dembele. He fucks our whole system up.

i know right, the system was working just great until he came on.

you lot are moaning about Capoue, but I did not see one player give him an option. Nobody wanted the ball. Capoue was the only player happy to collect the ball.

I thought the Goat was excellent today. Hugged the wings to use the width of the pitch, dominated midfield, lots of fast tempo forward passing and a continual threat in front of goal. Also very solid in defence. Played for the shirt. Well done Goat - MotM.

What a disaster but were you surprised.

I blame the players and our recruitment policy before Poch, who can't be held responsible for such mentally poor players.

I have written this season off in my mind cos I can't allow myself to get to emotional about the team and players at the club, such a disappointment.

Lloris, Kane, Chadli and Naughton ok at times, the rest.... awful, especially Capoue, Fazio and Eriksen.

Didn't see the game (thank goodness) but what I have seen of Capoue does not inspire confidence - actually think he's a liability.

Agreed and the worrying thing is that we might be stuck with most of these players for some time to come. Pochettino may have to change his approach in order to get a string of decent performances out of these guys.

I'll skip the match largely and talk about things in general... It will save me dissecting one of the worst team goals conceded ever (the opener) with an inexplicable second. And the rest of the shit we saw served up over the course of the game...

Our problems are caused by both the players and the manager. We have some really bad individuals who lack several of the following: technique/composure/speed of thought/speed of foot/intelligence/fight/professionalism. All of that was on display today across the pitch in what was a miserable 90 minutes. What we are seeing in part is a disastrous buying policy where we have a squad of players that is unbalanced and lacks pace, a group of youngish players and no leadership and very little by way of fight. We have taken all our resources and spent them poorly, its not a case of money hasn't been available. Even today we had a £17m midfielder, £10m centre back and £10m left back not even on the bench, how many other teams could be in that position? Money has been there to spend but not wisely, Some of this can be addressed in the relatively short term, however I do feel we may need another overhaul and it will take time to address the massive issues we have in the squad.

Tactically though there has to be a change and Poch deserves criticism. I'll start with the defence, I wasn't happy with no Vertonghen in the team. None of them are playing well but I think he is the least worst option right now and every time he has been taken out it has backfired. Fazio has from game one set alarm bells ringing for me, he constantly steps out and then for balls played in behind he is possibly the worst defender I have seen. Kaboul is jittery and needs all the help he can get. What the next alternative is I don't know... Dier? Its not just individuals though, as a unit they are all over the place and don't seem to work in tandem. It needs to change ASAP.

When we have the ball I see many of the same faults that were in place under a certain previous manager. Namely possession with no purpose, and for all the individual players deficiencies and faults a lot of it is again down to the manager. I look at us and I don't see any inkling of what the plan is, how we are going to attack and where we think we can hurt teams. Players seem to stumble around unsure of what there role is, we play with no width, and very little in way of runners or movement. Its all first gear and played in front of the opposition. Then when we don't have it, we see little pressure on the ball and very little in the way of defensive organisation.

I want to give Poch time, I think we should, but I cannot see what we are trying to do nor any signs of what is being worked on at the training ground. It really is one big mess currently. He needs to buy himself some time and stumble upon an effective formula quickly otherwise I fear the knives may come out. For starters I think we could do with going back to basics a bit, work harder, be more defensively secure as a unit and be difficult to beat. Then build upon that.

Lloris - Even he seemed to get dragged down by it all today. For the opening goal he may have been unsighted but I'm still puzzled how it beat him. His distribution was awful on many occasions. I guess it shows how bad we were today, in that even Hugo was getting caught up in it all.

Naughton - At times his 'stick out my leg as far as possible and hope for the best' tackling technique was actually pretty effective and was about the only time we were winning the ball back from them. Still looks a frightened rabbit caught in the headlights with and without the ball though, cant get rid of the ball quick enough and constantly backing off his man for fear of getting completely done... As seen with the sending off.

Kaboul - Just not the force of old. Jittery and unreliable. Then when he tries to atone and make something happen he seems to compound problems.

Fazio - Completely unimpressed with him so far. He's a confident lad but he constantly steps out of the defensive line and also always liable to be mugged off in behind. A number of errors today that could/should have been punished. Must improve, and quickly.

Rose - Poor first half. I cannot comprehend how he didn't react to the second goal. It was as if he wasn't watching the game and blindly running upfield. A pure WTF moment. Second half he did redeem himself a bit to be fair, he kept going and was driving forward right till the end despite what looked like a severe injury, and got an assist with a decent enough cross.

Capoue - I can only repeat what I have said in recent weeks about this guy: When we have it easy then he looks a classy player, however the moment there is a bit of a battle he is nowhere to be found. Slow, weak, not breaking up play... Must step up to the plate in the centre of the park.

Mason - He tried his heart out as per usual, but didn't really enjoy it out there as the rest of the team went to pot. I'd like to see him played further forward or in a Cm3.

Townsend - A couple of good runs were met with ones that were not so good. He gave the ball away for the opening goal and his first touch at times wasn't great. He needs someone getting at him constantly to stop him from overcomplicating things. The best players, such as say someone like Robben as another left footer stationed on the right, go in a straight line, create half a yard and then do damage. Townsend has talent - some pace, two footed and a good shot on him - but is too 'twisty-turny' and unnecessary tricks, he gets himself in a muddle.

Eriksen - It is hard for the No.10 when there isn't a platform to play from, but once again he looks a bit flimsy and bullied out of the game.

Chadli - Quiet but not the worst ever, and his ball retention seemed relatively good. Cracking strike and coming up with a good goal tally.

Kane - At times was bullied a bit but I guess he stuck at it and to be fair started boxing clever and won a few freekicks. Did miss one really good chance early on, it was a diving header but you really need to score them and who knows how the game would have panned out if that had gone in... Would prefer he played with a striker partner in future games.

All three subs were also pretty bad. Ade didn't really have any impact, and Lamela and Dembele had a half and were guilty of poor errors at times (Dembele) and errors and making stupid decisions when in promising positions on a couple of occasions (Lamela).

So what excuse will Bus Conductor find for Capoue today? It was Mason's ill discipline, it was the the 2nd shooter on the grassy verge, it was the Illuminati, they spiked his pre-match banana?

Careless Hotspur & the Chamber of idiots

Is there anyone left out there who still believes AVB was the problem ? I called those that wanted him replaced while we were still clocking up points, whilst cruising through our European group and qualifying for the CCCup quarters fuctardial dimwits who'll eventually get what they deserve. It didn't go down well.

I argued that getting this bunch of feckless idiots and would be ingenue's organised into some kind of cohesive functionality, despite being a bit toothless at times, was an achievement not to be sniffed at and given time and patience might improve.

No, no, no BC you wanker, it's all AVB's fault, he's made them stupid with his mind bending, and much, much worse than being shit, we are boring and we want our Tottenham back.

It was fair, however, to say that some of AVB's personnel selections were counter intuitive. A bit daft even. But little were we to know that they would be superseded by Sherwood's "I've picked a midfield to compete" Sigurdsson/Eriksen CM2 or his Chadli CM lunacy.

Now we have some equally curious selections. Fazio and Kaboul at LCB (both in one game) instead of Vertonghen. Townsend for Lamela. I don't agree with it, but can understand Kane being given a go ahead of Soldado, seemingly to appease the fans. The Mason/Capoue CM2/4231 combo clearly hasn't been working and this was strangely left in tact as a CM2 in the 4231. Pochettino needs to change this pairing or change to a 433.

Tactically Hughes out smarted Pochettino. Let that ruminate a while.

There is no cohesive pressing, no discernible, sustained tempo. Our movement off the ball, when in possession is fucking woeful. The carelessness with the ball is fucking diabolical and has got worse if anything. So many times players gave the ball away with careless, sloppy shit it was unreal. We were poor in every area of the pitch, individually and collectively.

Here comes the weekly mantra:

It's early days, he will need time. But so far I don't see any sign of a strategy. Any game plan. Any over arching philosophy. Any inherently ingrained work ethic.

Things need to start changing. We need to work harder off the ball for each, people need to stop shirking responsibility. And being more fucking careful with the ball.

Today's game was worse than Liverpool last season.

And the chamber of idiots doesn't just refer to the those playing on our "too narrow" pitch.

Individual rantings:

Lloris - Need to see a replay but I din't think he was great on the first goal. He didn't actually have loads to do but was generally OK

Naughton - semi-decent. Did the right thing in bringing down Moses when sold up the river by Mason.

Fazio - I'm guessing the theory was Stoke would play Crouch and try and aerially bombard us. Seems unlikely they would do that away from home to me, more likely they would sit deep and try and hit us on the break. So pretty unsuitable for Fazio. Strange choice in combo with Kaboul.

Kaboul - Captain unmarvellous.

Rose - Poor all round for the goal, starting with the aimless hump to Kane, then being caught flat footed when it came straight back. Poor game generally. If he'd have twatted Walters I would have forgiven him.

Capoue - Poor game.

Mason - Poor game. I don't think he belongs in a CM2, and certainly not this one. He's not a bottler or lazy but he's so indisciplined, I'm sure he'd rather be playing as san AM. I think his actual tangible offensive contribution to games is being exaggerated. I can't think of a single game that he's played in that we've looked a better team, or that he's influenced in a major way creatively. In fact we have looked awful in a few of them (Arsenal, Villa, Newcastle, Stoke). Like Capoue, it would help him if there was some team ethic around and ahead of him. But if we are to persevere with Mason, not only does he need a different type of partner (and I don't think we have one - Stambouli didn't stop the two bob Greeks creating a shit load) but he's also got to start chipping in with something more tangible creatively and giving the ball away a lot less.

Townsend - Hope Southampton 's transfer committee weren't watching.

Eriksen - Lightweight without the ball but really can't believe we thought Dembele was more likely to make something happen.

Chadli - Really piss poor bar his finish.

Kane - Wow, turns out he's not Thomas Muller after all, who'd have thunk it. Piss poor generally. 11/16 passes. Like Defoe but without the offsides.

Dembele - Just pass the fucking thing.

Lamela - Just pass the fucking thing.

Team can't be bothered, so I can't be bothered to rate. I would seriously prefer to have a load of shit players that actually try than these bunch of pricks that think they are better than they are.

A few comments:
If I was poch I would have put soldado on instead when I saw ade didn't even have his shoes on. Well he should have come anyway, but still. I can't defend this guy anymore.

Why drop lamela and still play eriksen, the guy has no balls and terrified of getting a bit hurt.

Fazio is a joke, how does he get ahead of Jan?

I don't have any faith in Poch turning this around, I know it's not all his fault, but the team aren't with him, looks like these players will get another manager sacked.

Insane to get rid of players like Sandro and holtby, at least these guys gave a shit.

We need almost a completely new team, keep Lloris, mason, chadli, lamela, walker and Kane, at a stretch eriksen, jan and soldado, fuck the rest. Some of these would be backup obviously before some smart arse tells me that almost a team.
