Don't think he'll start against Brom, but if he can stay fit through the international break I'd have him play against City.

Big players perform in big games.

Yeah, the old groove was coming back last night. Worked the ball well, and with an extra yard of pace he's making some serious space for himself. Getting excited now... I think he's only a few games away from showing us all what he can really do.

The sharpness and confidence seems to be slowly returning, but there’s still a way to go on stamina.

By half time, for instance, he’d head 29 touches to Lucas 32, but by his substitution he’d head 36 to Lucas 48.

At half time he’d played 24 passes to Lucas 19, but by his substitution they were level on 30 each.

Encouragingly though, unlike Lucas he both intercepted and blocked a shot each, Lucas did neither, which suggests (wary of taking stats in isolation) acceptable of the ball with, and he also never lost possession either through dispossession or turnover in his entire time on the pitch compared to 5 times for Lucas, which can obviously be slightly motivated by Lucas greater involvement and less conservative use of the ball.

The only reason I use Lucas is they both played as inverted wingers/ inside forwards, and Lucas was probably our best player on the night, so I think it serves as a semi acceptable litmus test for both Bales successes on the night and where he needs to improve.

Let's hope it's not a serious injury and that he's withdrawn from the Wales squad to nurse his ankle.

I don’t recall a specific foul on Bale, but given how much WBA were kicking us yesterday and getting away with it, I imagine this is probably just an impact injury and nothing to worry about.

Or could be a bullshit excuse to not go on international break :D

Doubtful, he desperately needs minutes to get up to speed. Playing for Wales would likely help us as much as them, so long as he doesn’t get injured.

Maybe Bale got shot by the sniper that hit Ndombele's toe, looked pretty painful, could be a season ender.

Completely agree, it would seem he has done the work at the training ground and now needs minutes. The international break could have come at a great time for Bale so that he can add to the game time he has had in the EL and PL, shake off some more the rustiness and provided Wales manage him correctly, he'll come back to Spurs getting ever closer to match fit and sharp ready for the next run of games.
