Jules Kounde.

I think the ideal partner is a pretty fast player who can cover a lot of ground because Romero is likely to step towards attackers so you need someone that can fall in behind and cover him.

Crikey, he likes a yellow card does our Cristian. That's getting on for one every couple of games!

Both your posts get at the part of this signing I like the most: whatever our defensive setup, its going to look a *lot* different than the low block in our own third (unless we play something that entirely doesn't suit our 50m signing). Ideally we pair him with a complementary partner that let's him do his thing, and we let PEH harass opposing MFs in a destroyer role as a 6/8. Lots of disruption/turnovers in the middle third and hitting opponents in transition.

So all the “LeVY nEVer pAYs uP tO gET thESe dEAls ovER thE LIne”(even though it’s been made clear Paratici is in charge of negotiations) kind of posts we got towards the end of last week when it looked like Atalanta were fucking us around was just pointless whinging then?

Not officially yet, still time for something to happen

Looking forward to all the 'seen it all before, typical Spurs closing impressive transfers' posts.

I would say get Jerome Boateng for a free on a 2+1. I cannot understand how no club have snaped him up after his superb last season.

To have Boateng, Tomiyasu and Romero raplace Sanchez, Dier and Toby. They are all 3 used to play in a back 3 aswell.

It would also give us 1-2years to see Rodon and Tangangas progression without blocking their path long term

Re: Kounde - think so (if we can get him). Bit out of my depth with the advanced stats, but all the red bars on his scouting report chart are things Romero appears to excel at (99th percentile in half of them). Pau Torres seems to tick the same boxes - good shout.
Kounde is 178cm.

That’s tall for a hobbit

I actually think Rodon would form a good pairing with Romero
Still want another CB for better competition though

Romero wore number 17 for Atalanta and 13 for Argentina. Any of them available?

Btw yes, he can play 4-3-3 just fine (not necessarily 3-4-3). In Argentina it was 4-3-3 and he got 3 clean sheets in 3 matches.
He could probably take the number 10 shirt at this rate. Welcome to the Spurs family el principe!

Makes you wonder what Conte was demanding if we're getting a transfer like this over the line

Too many doubts over Romero, with such a big fee we could have bought better defenders.

i speak as someone whos watched him quite a bit (i was also a massive advocate for gasparini to be our next manager), anyone who watches him regularly has 0 doubts about him. he’s that good.
