Such a solid player you have to love Ben.
Great that he got captains armband, good move by Jose.

Think he can do a job at LCB but is he quite tall enough, looks about 5,11 to me but could be wrong.

Love the guy though proper good pro.

Really solid game last night, weak opposition yes but he done everything that he could do well. Definitely a position I'd like to see him play more even if just in the europa league for now.

long term he's a cb imo all his weaknesses out wide become a strength through the middle. Plus he can play some wonderful Vertonghenesque balls into pockets of space that really set us off.

Was fouled for the goal tonight but still was awful.

Personally think it’s looking like a huge mistake not registering or bringing in a Centre half in time

I think Davies time is up. He was a good backup behind Rose and filled in decently when better CB's were behind him for protection. But his short passing and his pace kill him. Once Rodon is up to speed and Tanganga is back, I think Davies loses nearly all of his playing time.

If he keeps playing nearly every game we are going to struggle bang average and gets away with it too often! That mistake for the goal tonight was shocking

Thought I’d bump this for poor Ben. He looks like an honest pro and a great team mate but my word he’s awful, he almost looks embarrassed when he gives it away.
Can’t see him surviving the summer but I wish him well

Steady player who is deserving of his squad place. We can’t have 22 stars in our squad.

I didn't think he was as poor as others on the pitch. Jm obviously doesn't fancy Ben at CB, but he plays really.well there for country. Can't see how he isn't an option over Sanchez on current form. Although it would leave the left side weak I suppose.

Davies was terrible as CB in the Antwerp game being responsible for the goal we conceeded.

Last night he was that bad I think. Especially in the first half. Missplacing passes, running with the ball out of the pitch, couldn't control the ball. And he offered next to nothing in an offensive way.

I agree to a certain degree about the ajax game, however I recall the midfield being utterly atrocious. And as we saw in other games, your CM leaves the back line as exposed as it was the CB will be left open. I suppose I'm making excuses to a certain degree, but i like Ben as a player and again, I didn't think they had much on our left side last night. Pretty much the whole team was misplacing passes.

He plays well.as a CB for his country and has, when been asked to player there for us done so well in the past too. Doherty, on the other side, however still has it all to prove. He was dreadful. But Ben and Tanaganga both had reasonable games.

Ben has played far more good games and I think we tend to focus on 1 or 2 particularly poor performances. Although I still don't think he was as bad as being made out yesterday.

Ben is certainly more steady than other players but how often is he having a really good game better than a 7/10? He is just an average squad player. I would keep him as Reguilons back up but not much more. The times he misplaces passes completely or rushing into opponents and then waves his arms in disbelief are increasing every year it feels.

Agree about Doherty, he was really dreadful and unfortunately was nearly every game he played for us.

I thought he was pretty awful last night, but he wasn't alone. Every individual was poor to varying degrees.

Doherty is pretty dreadful. On his current form then we may as well have held on to Walker-Peters, who at least has youth on his side. The only upside I see from signing Doherty is that it has given Aurier a kick up the butt and he has buckled down and is playing much better.

Average back up at best will be remembered as a stop gap left back for us he needs shipping along with sanchez come the summer. The difference compared to regullion is massive
