Average back up at best will be remembered as a stop gap left back for us he needs shipping along with sanchez come the summer. The difference compared to regullion is massive
He's very dependable, hard-working, and a model professional. Also comes across as one of our more intelligent players off the pitch and seems a good role model & mentor for the younger players. Never going to be the standout player in the 11 but will give you a consistent baseline level. The kind of player every team needs, just look at Liverpool with Milner, City with Zabaleta, etc.

It will be interesting to see how Sessegnon does at left back for Hoffenheim this season... he’s getting decent minutes and has been playing well according to media reports.

Is he actually playing left back though? I don't agree that his end game is at left back he's not a strong enough defender and I doubt he ever will be. With the engine he has I think he's a better fit for the current Bergwijn role.

A 6 year stop gap. Kinda sounds like one of those permanent stop gaps.

Kinda sounds like a guy who, despite his limitations, has demonstrated impeccable attitude and professionalism for 6 years, given his all for the club each time he's been on the pitch, and has played (and continues to play) an important role in all of the progress we've made since he joined, yet is for some reason widely derided by a large section of our fanbase.

yes he’s playing LB and he’s just been voted their player of the month.

Given how Jose is starting to utilise Davies I can see him playing more as a CB in the cups and as per yesterday in a 3 or at LB to shut down games.

As a LB he’s solid defensively but poor offensively and given we now play quick and clinical counter attacking football Davies is the polar opposite of what you need to do this.

Drivle reply as you know the truth shit player that will always be a bench boy. He can come on with 5 minutes left to see out a game. Never rated him and never will as he is our bellerin other teams target him as a weakness for a reason

If he was shit he wouldn’t even make the bench, let alone stand in as captain on occasion. I’ll give you benefit of the doubt though and assume you mean he’s just an average player which would be less contestable than shit but the fact remains, he’s still an important player in the squad who’s clearly valued, not only by the current staff, but by Poch and co too.

I was only pointing out that a player who’s been with us 6 years is not really a stop gap. I’ll be gobsmacked if he is sold in the summer by which point he’ll be going on 7 years at the club which means he’s almost part of the furniture. Getting into testimonial game territory. Lol.

Hes a good servant and im sure hes popular in the changing room thats why hes still valued imo. If rose hadnt fallen off the wagan he would still be competing with regullion for the left back position not davies and yes i meant it to say thats hes average at best and in no way should he be a starter for us. I pray regullion stays with us because if he goes back to madrid we are screwed imo.

It can’t just be down to him being a nice guy, though, can it?

I mean, Mourinho and the players must have some faith in his footballing ability, surely?

I love Rose and he was a fantastic player in his prime but you can’t say “if Rose didn’t fall off the wagon” coz he did. And it’s not like Poch or Mourinho were so worried about him being shit that they went straight into the market.

I think most of us accepted LB was a position we needed to recruit in but maybe that it wasn’t top priority ahead of other positions. I hope Regullion doesn’t get injured to but that goes for all our players. I know it’s cliche but it’s a squad game these days. I hate all this talk of title but if we’re going to seriously put our name in the hat then players like Davies, Lamela, Bergwijn etc etc are going to be very important.

WOW
Ben has been a pivotal player in the squad for a few years now and he only has 7 pages on his thread. He obviously doesnt do too much outstanding or wrong.

Davies is not a shit player but he's not good enough for a side that wants to win trophies either. He is a mid-table player at this point, I will always like him for his attitude towards the club and how he filled in when Rose got hurt but he is past his best now. No need to hate the guy, you can tell he gives his all when he plays, it's just not enough anymore.

He honestly should be treated like Jan was. A guy that loves the club, had some great highs for us but towards the end is past his best and it is showing. I don't understand the harsh negative comments towards him by a lot of fans. I hope this is our last season with him but I want him to be successful for the next club he goes to.

He really isn’t solid defensively that is such a myth every half decent winger goes past him for fun
