Another thing I hate about Davies is his negativity.

He constantly stands with a closed body shape and so as soon as the ball comes across to him he instantly just plays it backwards.

Does my head in, a good player would keep their body shape open to take the ball on the run and at least try and open up forward passing and running opportunities.

Probably is a position to improve upon but in the grand scheme probably not the priority. I think there are stronger arguments for CB, CM, ACM and ST at this current time.

Nice enough chap but let’s face it if he was Arsenals starting left back every game we wouldnt let it be. We want and need top 4. He isn’t a top 4 left back. Very decent back up or an average low prem left back.

I like Ben and appreciate his years here but we’ve now replaced him and he should be sold so we can give Sessegnon a season here to learn what he truly is. If he’s going to be another Bale going from LB to winger, then who better to learn from than the man himself? If he’s going to be an LB, then we can use him as a backup to Reguilon.

I wouldn’t give him too much stick, he will probably start some matches at CB for us and he’s honestly pretty decent as a rotation piece. Some players aren’t elite starters but give their best, Davies is definitely one and he provides great depth as legitimately the only left footed defender we have.

I was obviously joking when I said this kid would give Davies a push to kick on but actually thinking about it I think he has suffered from lack of competition recently and some of you are going to be surprised that this new kid won’t come in and start pulling up trees straight away. There’s a reason why Poch and now Jose love Davies and I don’t think it’s just because he’s a nice bloke.

Obviously, keep in mind different leagues etc but still, crazy stat and if he does sign will instantly improving our attacking threat on the left.

What constitutes a dribble?

Are they including Davies eating his food pre match and drinks breaks!!!

Just not in Davies's locker and why I've wanted another LB for so long. Relieved we are getting a LB who looks to be able to offer so much more and can finally relegate Davies to the role of backup for that position.

Calm down everyone. We are going to need both Davies and the new lad this season. Or anyone expecting Regulion to play every game this season?

No. We're just excited to have a genuine attacking threat from LB. Rose was the the last LB who truly offered a threat on that side and getting in a younger version who can defend and attack will instantly improve the team dynamic. Davies will absolutely have a part to play but should see his minutes cut as he just can't attack.

Ben had a good game last night - great assist for Harry's first, and set up Lo Celso from the box, too if I saw that correctly?

Looked good going forward.

It looked like the defender tackled Davies which fell to Lo Celso but looks like Davies was shaping up to lay it off to Lo Celso anyway, so same result.

Great cross for the first though.

Ben Davies has been looking at Reguillon in traning and stepped up yesterday. His cross to Kane was magnificent

Yeah. That cross was great.

I really like him as a back-up/rotational player. Versatile. Professional. And in periods a very decent player.

Obviously he could be a regular starter for many PL clubs, but he shouldn't be for us - and now he isn't. If he is happy playing the role he will now get then fantastic. And I believe he will. He will still play a lot of games and he is only an injury away or some bad form from Reguilon to start big games for us.
