Kaboul being a CB who is also very good at RB, combined with the fact that Lennon is a hard working player, would work on the side. Exactly the same can be said of Bassong and Bale on the other side. I'd be tempted to stick with the Modric/ Sandro centre for now because it has looked very good on the whole and neither can be particularly blamed for what happened in Madrid. Huddlestone, much as I love him, will have to be patient.​

I like BAE, but this is about whether a central midfield partnership and Modric given room to attack is better than BAE's consistent (by and large) performances in defence, along with the fact that Bale has put in some of his best performances in that position.

Not that strange a proposition in my opinion really, though I respect your consternation.

I'd be willing to see how it works. I loved Modric on the left, and those saying Bale is wasted at LB seem to be forgetting the performances he put in last season in that position.

I guess it is a pointless discussion anyway, as Harry is clearly set on Bale as a winger and BAE in defence, and I for one won't argue with a manager I respect massively.
