Seriously though, I think it's impossible to choose a team until we know what the fallout from last night is, especially in terms of the injury to Corluka, whether Lennon will recover (would like to think so) and the fitness levels of Gallas, Hudd and Bale.

It could well be though that we have as many as 37 players unavailable - between 10 and 13 players out injured on top of the 24 players we have out on loan.

I would think Lennon would be fit, he's not injured, you never know but I'm hopeful. Bale said he should be fine. Big question marks over Corluka and Gallas but I'm just hoping they will have recovered in time. Hopefully at least one of the will play and we could slot Bassong in where required.

If we don't score with that mg:

I would really like to see VDV play in the hole though, I can't remember seeing him to many times recently in that area, with him coming so deep it leaves our striker even more isolated.

I don't know whether it's genius or complete madness but I do actually like that line up all things considered injury wise.

In all seriousness, it does give us more of a physical presence with another centre back which will be needed to combat the more direct aspects of Stokes play although it would require both Huddlestone and Sandro to be quite disciplined in the middle to screen the defence and drop back when required.

We really, really need to hammer them. If we haven't scored after 20 minutes I can see us easily having another 0-0 so I say we go all out from the start.

We need something different, the only way is to put more attacking players on the field and hope we dominate the game enough to score a few goals early, then we hold the lead in the second half and bring off players who need rest.

This would be really good too imo, might be the best we can put out without taking too big a risk defensively.
