A mate just text me saying Paul Barber was just on Talksport basically saying they expect every player and manager to eventually move on so they have all their ducks lined up all the time just in case.
Paul Barber spoke really well. Very impressive. If only we had someone like him! Oh hold on, we did.....

Paul Barber should be our CEO, Spurs fan too.

Said it before, the biggest change I'd make at the top is having Levy just take care of commercial and stadium related things with Barber coming in as the CEO for the football side. He'd sort us out very, very quickly and we'd compete for silverware quickly too imo with our resources.

Unfortunately Levy probably doesn't have the self awareness or lack of ego to consider a move like this.

Barber is the best CEO in football and it's depressing that he's a Spurs fan but not with us.

Now it's Spursonal

Would be happy with De Zerbi but would be happier if we decided to just beat them to their likely next manager appointment in Postecoglu, who they actually wanted more than the De Zerbi in the first place but he wasnt willing to leave at the time.

Brighton are so well run that if they want him than I want him!
(Also just rate him very highly and he plays fantastic football and know that the City Group hold him in the highest regard and he's won everywhere he's gone etc. etc.)

I find the Ryan Mason as a possible candidate until the end of the season talk interesting.

Would clearly show that the likes of Poch and Enrique aren't on our list and that we'd be waiting to get someone already contacted to a club.

Personally I think it's all guesswork at the moment and the journalists themselves don't know what's going on.
It's just playing with names. Click-bait rules.

Fabrizio said this on a livestream. Might seem like a throwaway line at the end, but he usually doesn’t say things like this unless there’s at least a bit of substance.

We have 5 wing backs, arguably 6 with Emerson's form over the last few months. Not sure switching to a 4 makes any sense at all squad wise.
That could drastically reduce the number of suitable candidates then. I can only think of Tuchel who has used 3 at the back.

I said all along this could be a problem and, quite frankly, I was astonished we spent 40m on Porro at a time when it was 50/50 (at very best) that Conte would be around to use him next season. If the new guy comes in wanting to play a back 4, let's just hope he can coach Porro and Udogie to play as full-backs otherwise we are adding to our list of unwanted. And in Porro's case, we have no chance of recouping our money, regardless of how decent a player he is, as there will be zero takers at 40m.

Just a snapshot of the muddled thinking at the top of the tree in my opinon.

I found it a strange move when he left us before. I know he moved on from being a commercial director with us to be a CEO of an MLS side but was that really a step up? He was obviously well thought of here because IIRC he stayed on as a non exec director for some time after he left so must have still been friendly with Levy despite him leaving his position.

I don't think Poch had the energy to go through the painful rebuild at the time. He looked exhausted after the CL final and definitely needed a break from the club,
You’re spot on and I’m not saying Poch is the perfect of best choice but imagine an everyday Joe working for say an IT company say in project management or sales for example, they join, they work flat out for 5 years to achieve over and above the targets and expectations, they bring a feel good factor to the company and motivate their team and inspire others around them.

5 years on they’re very burntout from the efforts involved and thinking about the next phase ‘painful rebuild’.

They go away and take another job for a few years to get some different experience.

They come back home now out of a job and think that feeling refreshed after a break for a year that they want to go back to the job and company where they had such great memories and success for 5 years and that will be a good fit for them and they believe that as the company has now grown over the last 3-4 years that with an increased budget and resources you could go back there and have another very positive impact and stay there long term ish.

I know football is different to everyday business but in everyday business managers leave companies only to return a number of years later and it often works out just fine.

We shall see what happens but if it is Poch back, as long as he and Levy have taken learnings from joe the last stint ended and Poch is perhaps willing to work with a DofF then who knows maybe unfinished business could get finished.

If we want a new manager bounce to finish the season strong then Tuchel is the obvious choice.

In an ideal world, we would give him a short-term deal until the end of the season and then revaluate in the summer.

It would never happen though.

Give Barber the keys and even under the ENIC ownership we can look forward to a more promising future.

Oh absolutely, if we could get tuchel in as an interim then we have to do that immediately.

However, there’s 0 chance he’d accept this, and I don’t want to go down the Chelsea manager route long term again.
