So Spors, Dykes, Steidten, Pinto, Krotsche all mentioned.

Braz staying at Benfica.

Zorc retired.

Mystery man could be any of

Michael Edwards
Jordi Cruyff
Christoph Freund
Marcel Brands

who knows!

Freund turned down Chelsea, so unlikely to come here. Edwards is the most wanted man in Europe for recruitment, and had worked with Levy before, so you can write him off. I'd imagine he starts his own recruitment consultancy company and gets all the money and non of the long hours he worked at Liverpool.

Interesting article about our director of football search by Charlie Eccleshare.

Found this bit interesting:

So it looks like we are down to Ali Golds "mystery candidate" he mentioned a couple days ago

The fact that Michael Edwards hasn't been mentioned anywhere despite sounding like the obvious candidate really does make me wonder whether it will be him.

Or whether we are just going to give the job to Steinsson???

If Edwards parted on good terms I would say its him...

Just because it hasn't been reported doesn't mean it isn't happening. Look at the Munn appointment.

I've no idea who it could be or what profile they're looking at but I'd like it done ASAP, once this person is in place it will get the ball rolling on everything.

Michael Edwards is the one I pray for.

Whilst it is incredibly difficult to judge and know too much about Sporting Directors, if you do any kind of research on Michael Edwards you will know how good he is. Data driven, highly regarded in the football world and known as a huge part of the success Klopp has had at Liverpool. Wasn't afraid to challenge Klopp and provided him with sensational players.

He is the one we need imo.

Michael Edwards would be more of a game changer than any Manager imo, but don’t think there’s even a chance it’s him. Left Liverpool due to exactly the same issues he’d face here.

We parted ways with Comolli and he took him to Liverpool. I think it was just a straight hire rather than any falling out which made him leave.

Sure he might have heard both negative and positive things about us and he probably has quite a bit of power when coming to chose his next club. But if he wants one in England then surely there aren't many better options financially than us unless he goes somewhere like Man Utd.

We should be begging him to come here and unleash his magic. Give him the power to do what has to be done behind the scenes and give him a budget that he controls and works from. No inteference from Levy.

Do that, bring in someone like Slot and we might be able to rise again, potentially higher than we did before to touch glory.

He didn't. According to the Athletic who seem to have the inside scoop on him, he left to just take up other challenges, he'd been there 10 years and wanted a change.

Edwards left Liverpool as he is said to want a new challenge and while not criticising the club he no longer to work with their limitations i.e. budget. Given the power and autonomy he had at Liverpool he is not going to swap that for working with levy as he will know exactly what he's like having seen it first hand and we don't spend on wages or fees as much as Liverpool do.
Would love him to come here but wouldn't get your hopes us

In fairness, if he felt he did everything at Liverpool and was looking for a "challenge" as DoF, he'd be coming to the right place

Edwards strongly linked with West Ham who are very much sniffing around the same talent pool as us it would seem for their DoF.

Guys, anyone who worked for Levy in recruitment is not coming back here. He knows how the sausage is made here. Edwards is a pipe dream.
