Also I'm infuriated by some people who support Archway based on some left-wing rhetoric about 'not being pushed around by a large corporation'. Central to all left-wing politics is the notion of individual sacrifice for the greater good and/or the idea that the needs of the many outwight the needs of the few. How on earth can anyone reconcile those ideals with what Archway are doing? They're screwing an entire area out of redevelopment (which the rest of the area is already committed to) because they want the big bad large corporation (which is the main source of revenue for the area) to fund their early retirement.
There is only one word to describe these people and its banned on here.
48 of the 57 councillors on Haringey Council are Labour, by assertion left-wing politicians, and the remainder are Lib Dems, more than likely left-leaning centralists.
From all I've read in this long, drawn out saga we have been given pretty good support by the 'left-wing politics' of Haringey Council.
I'm as frustrated about the delays as every other supporter, but this appeal by Archway has nothing to do with politics, left or right, and all about process and following the rule of law. And greed, possibly.
