I really don't think they want to win the appeal (or are even interested in continuing the business) IMO the plan is to just keep dragging it out as long as possible in the hope that we'll give in and just give them a lottery size payoff

I agree and surely that won't sit well with the high court as it's obviously their motive.

But surely every year that passes we are losing millions!!!!!!

It will be 10 years at the erarliest after the initial plans were put forwards.

That is just not right?!

Re: Arsenal. 4 years it took them from plans to a spade in the grounds.

We are either the most unlucly club in the land or some very poor decisions have been made

So what if we losing millions we aren't even earning? That kind of imaginary money is not important until the new stadium is fully built and functional. We just happened to be unlucky at the present moment. You should really calm down, I kinda get the impression you are frothing at the mouth whilst typing so angrily on the keyboard.

The latest news really isn't a surprise to any of us who've followed this thread over the recent months now is it?

Damn annoying obviously. I'm not going to MK that's for sure.
Not a surprise but still infuriating for the entire area, the club aside. The area is getting screwed so archway can get spurs to fund their early retirement.

Oh...and last time I checked for CPO appeals going through the High Court the process took about a year. I may be wrong and more legally minded folks may know better, but think we might need to prepare for that kind of wait if it goes that far.

It sounds like someone have to give Archway an offer they can't refuse.

And by someone, I mean Baldini. That's why he's here, right?

Only one group of people are going to benefit from this in the short\medium term and that's the lawyers for Archway steel.

I wonder how they are affording the costs of all this legal advice and representation. When they lose their latest challenge will they be made to pay off our legal fees? :ROFLMAO:

2-3 years is the norm. After that, it can be taken to the european court.
I'm sticking to what I've been saying since 2010. We will never move to a new stadium under the watch of yhe current owners.

Can you point me towards a CPO challenge that has gone through the high court that has taken 2-3 years?

Genuinely don't see how anyone can blame Levy or ENIC for this.

The fact that the CPO was granted shows that in the eyes of the authorities we've made more than a reasonable offer for the land, and you can't go around throwing extra millions at companies just because they've dug their heals in.

It's just crap that the appeals process is so slow, and that Archway are being stubborn, despite the fact that it really doesn't look like their going to get anything extra out of this.

Did this really surprise anyone? It really didn't me. Anyway, calm down would be my advise, there is really no point getting hot under the colour - there is nothing we can do now except take it onto the next stage in the process. I'm sure the club was expecting it too and would still be using the time constructively, even if not 'constructiontively'.

Hope David Lammy speaks out. One family's belligerence is now directly jeopardising jobs and livelihoods in his constituency. If nothing else, I'd hope that he might be able to oil the wheels of the appeals process.

We had all better hope Cameron gets reelected next May

He has said he will abolish the HRA, which would be the next Archway appeals step

Plus if we exit EU in 2017 then Archway are fucked there too

I can't see this dragging out for another year or so. The land has been flattened. The building work will create jobs, the area depends on THFC match day business. Someone will mediate this so it doesn't last. They will get their payout. Just can't see Levy or ENIC leaving this another year or 2 to start building or 4 years before we could hopefully move in.
This statement is a strategic move by Levy to let the locals know Archway could be jeopardising their businesses and regeneration of the area.

Not sure how many comparisons can be made but this is a fairly recent CPO timeline from Dreamland site in Margate;

http://www.thanet.gov.uk/the-thanet...013/october/court-of-appeal-ruling-dreamland/

  • TDC serve a CPO on the Dreamland site owners - 3 June 2011
  • Landowners challenge the CPO and it goes to public inquiry - January 2012
  • TDC receive approval from the Secretary of State for the CPO - August 2012
  • Landowners challenge the decision by the Secretary of State
  • Two-day hearing takes place at the High Court - 20 and 21 March 2013
  • High Court dismisses the challenge against the Secretary of State
  • Landowners appeal the High Court decision in late May 2013
  • Cabinet agree to authorise a General Vesting Declaration – 1 August 2013
  • Site transfers to TDC – 3 September 2013
  • Court of Appeal hearing - 25 September 2013
  • Appeal dismissed Tuesday 8 October 2013.
