£20m does seem fair, all things considered.
That means Levy will offer £10m and a pack of hobnobs until deadline day, then up it to £15m and add chocolate to the hobnobs.
Levy: "But guys, the Aldi ones came top of the MailOnline taste test AND the pack is 340g rather than 300g. Delia, as a chef, you should appreciate that???"Deal will fall through at the final hurdle due to a last ditch change by DL to amend them to the Aldi 'Choco NobHobs', with arguments over a blind taste test distracting them from a deal sheet.
This would be dreamyWe need to upgrade both our RB and LB positions. The easiest way to do that is to sell KWP and Aurier and sign both Aarons and Castagne as the latter is two footed and competent in both positions.
RB:
Aarons
Castagne
Tanganga (emergency)
LB:
Castagne
Davies
Sessegnon (probs be utilised further up field)
Cirkin (promoted to the 1st team squad)
Tanganga (emergency)
We need an experienced right back of decent quality, preferably good enough to be a current international. Then the rotation option can be any promising HG player with the right athleticism and ability. I’m still on the Ngakia train if we can get him.
If we could get Ngakia for free and swap Aurier for Castagne breaking even, and use KWP to cheapen Hojbjerg, then we’ve already massively improved our first team and squad regardless of our intended formation. Hopefully Parrot is a bit further along too but a Llorente type signing would be great, particularly if the intention is to play Son close to Kane.Yeah I'm in the same boat, if we can get a promising HG player for cheap and the skill difference is minimal between the 20 mill player and let's say anywhere between a 5 mill player and lower then we would be best served going for the cheaper option if we're also going to buy the Atalanta fullback.
If there's a summer where cutting corners is a necessity then it's this window. If we can save money with a signing like Ngakia we should. If we can make 30-40 mill on a winger and bring in willian on a free without taking a huge hit on wages then we probably should.
Agree with this, but I don’t think Foyth’s a particularly good full back either because he’s not especially quick and he’s easily flustered or knocked off the ball. If you’re going to be a half decent fullback in the modern game you need pace or the ability to make minimal mistakes. He’s a good passer, but he wouldn’t have the drive to motor up and down the pitch and he’d be targeted by the opposition because it’s quite obvious he panics when he’s pressured. I think we overrate him because he’s ours, and I don’t see him adapting well to the PL. I’m sure he’d be more impressive in Spain or Italy where the game is much less frantic. There’s a very good reason he hasn’t established himself as a regular for us and it’s not like we signed him recently eitherWhy this assumption that Foyth could do the Davies role on the right?
Davies doesn’t get that gig because he’s a tall full back or because he’s shown he can play as a left centre back, he gets it because he disciplined, makes almost no mistakes, is fully focussed and can carry out his managers instructions. For all his limitations, if the opposite full back is going to be played a fair bit higher up the pitch then these are the most important qualities of the tucked in full back, and Foyth has shown none of these for us. If anything, with his pace and ability on the ball, not to mention decent aggression off it, he’s a more like replacement for Aurier as an attacking full back.
Agree fully, I was just trying to temper my posts negative slant so that I couldn’t be accused of lacking nuance in my argument.Agree with this, but I don’t think Foyth’s a particularly good full back either because he’s not especially quick and he’s easily flustered or knocked off the ball. Slightly off topic but I think Todd cantwell is the jewel in their crown. seems like a big game player- always raises his game in the matches against the top 6 ( and us )
Out of the teams likely to go down, him and Grealish look the most ready-made to slot into a better team.
Wonder if we’ve already reached the Norwich checkout or can we add cantwell to our basket
David Brooks is better than both, and more Spursy IMO.
But yes I think Cantwell, Grealish and Brooks would all improve us hugely.
This certainly highlights how much talent there is available from the relegated teams and it would be foolish of us not to be one of the teams who takes advantage.
