Max Aarons: Tottenham renew interest in Norwich right-back along with Everton and Manchester United
Manchester United and Everton have already expressed an interest in signing Aarons; Tottenham also keen on Brighton's Tariq Lamptey

Tottenham have renewed their interest in Max Aarons, joining a growing list of clubs chasing the Norwich right-back this summer.

The future of Serge Aurier is in doubt, with the player wanting to leave the north London club, and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has made enquiries about Aarons before.

Managerless Tottenham are also keen on Brighton's Tariq Lamptey - but the south-coast club are said to want as much as £50m for him.

Aarons - said to be valued in the region of £30m by Norwich - could present a more affordable option.

The Canaries want Aarons to sign new terms, however, despite three years still remaining on his contract, having starred in their promotion back to the Premier League.

I'd find it surprising that Norwich would sell both Buendia & Aarons while being promoted.

Doherty pretty much nailed on to stay and most likely to be a starter with Nuno, so can’t see us splashing the cash here

Why ugh? Under Nuno Doherty was unbelievable, far better than Aarons has ever been. Not saying he'll suddenly replicate his old form, but if he did we'd have a great right back sorted.

He has never been “unbelievable”. Wolves fans warned us he was shit defensively, which has turned out to be the case. He’s pushing 30, slow, can’t tackle, awful positionally, and to be honest, I think he’s just as error prone as Aurier. He was purported as some big goal threat from right back and had one shot the entire season. Him being a staple in our team next season is a miserable thought - he wouldn’t get on the bench of any other team in the top 8.

Ok fullback? Yes. Unbelieveable? No chance.

Even Wolves fans consistently criticised him.

Rose and Walker were defensively suspect, too, but I'd say most here would call the pair unbelievable at points. Doherty's job at Wolves wasn't as a pure defender either way, he played wide and high up offering width when Nuno played three at the back, he didn't get that opportunity here, everyone and their Mum's said he can't play in a back four before he came and we put him in a back four. The cards were stacked against him from the start.

I don't want these posts to make it sound like I think he's going to suddenly turn the ship around and become prime Maicon, but if he suits the new system better then the £30m for Aarons can be spent on a position we're desperate for this season if we're in as much of a financial crunch as it seems we are.

I'd love to sign Aarons but Skipp is my last ray of hope in this club and I'm pinning everything on his shoulders, if he left i'd be crushed.

Yeah but apart from that.

As others have said, he has never been good for us defensively or going forward and that is where I lay my assessment, I do not care how much you think he was good at Wolves. I would have rather have Aurier everyday of the week and twice on Sundays and that is saying something!

They’re both absolute dross in reality. Doherty was better for Wolves than Aurier has ever been for us, but based on both for us, we need new right backs.

Really hope this is true. We need homegrown players, particularly if Winks and (please God no) Kane are to leave, and Aarons has the pace that we've lacked since Walker left. Even seeing Walker's recovery pace for England yesterday made me realise how much we've missed that since he left - it allowed us to play a much higher line and press higher up the pitch.

I very much doubt the club are looking to go into the new season with Doherty as the starting RB. He was abysmal last season and at 30 he isn't going to improve. It's clear as day the guy is way out of his depth, should be playing in the Irish sunday league. He's all over the place defensively and let's be honest, he's shite going forward too.

Even with Nuno as manager, I doubt Doherty will see much of a reprieve.

No offense but I think that’s crazy, Nuno loved Doherty at Wolves he understood the system and did everything that was asked of him and then some. It’s really likely we sign a new RB if we can ship out Aurier, but especially in the first part of the season while players are learning our new setup I think we’ll be seeing a lot of Doc.

Nuno got the best out of Doherty and I doubt he'd look to sell him straight away (unless crazy money is involved).
