Another radio silence week, all comes down to the final week …

Left it far too late imo, to get rid of the necessary amount of both ins & out.

We haven't "left it late" to get rid of the deadwood. It's not as if we've been holding back on that score. It's simply that we CAN'T get rid of the deadwood. No one who can afford them wants them.

At the start of the window I think it was Dragon 1 on COYS who said we would need to sell our deadwood before brining players in. It’s obvious we have no money without selling players like the rest of the league. We all seem to be ignoring the fact covid made a major dent in our finances:

8 June - issue is we lost well over 100 million last year. they need to raise funds from sales , aurrier , sissoko , winks , dies , sanchez etc etc

10 June - We have an ownership who will not invest. the stadium will get revenue from concerts etc but in the immediate term we need to start moving players on ASAP to raise funds for this summer. they will spend everything they get from sales

May Also remember back in May when there were noises that we might sell a youngster to raise funds?

At the point of the window, next week is going to be like supermarket sweep for many including ourselves.
Why do we believe it wouldn't be any other way?
It will never change, regards who is the DOF.

Plenty of teams struggling to shift deadwood, I guess when desperation sets in Fabio will be an extremely busy man ?‍♂️

Aurier has to go surely or he walks on a free next year. Any idea how long Sissoko has on his contract?

So, 11 days to go can’t really see 4/5 in and 5/6 out either with the Kane saga hanging over us. A window that started with so much optimism that super DOF Fab was going to be our saviour is whimpering out like a deflating balloon. I hope I am wrong but logistically with all today’s COVID restrictions it is going to be extremely difficult to do what is needed. It is not a buyers market as many have suggested as the good players are priced at a premium and the lesser players can’t be shifted. The rebuild will take 3/4 windows at least.

I can't see any reason why COVID would have any impact on potential deals. I mean, if clubs can fly all over Europe to play football matches in front of packed stadiums, why would there be an issue with transfers?

I think there will be plenty more action between now and the end of the month, regardless of whether or not we sell Kane. And not just because the itk has consistently said it.

It's just that this is precisely the kind of market that Levy loves to exploit. There absolutely will be bargains to be had (especially in continental Europe). But, as others have pointed out, the selling clubs haven't yet reached desperation point. They are still hoping that they will raise the funds they so badly need by selling their junk. But they will soon have to accept that that isn't going to happen and that they will instead have to start selling the family silver.

And that's when this transfer window will properly ignite. Thus far, it has been unusually flat. Comparatively few clubs have done any significant business. More than ever, there will be a late frenzy of buying and selling.

Especially for Spurs. Because Kane.

This.

Players like Sissoko and Winks were given new contracts in 2019.

I think Sissoko has 2 years left on £80k a week and Winks has 3 years left on £50k a week.

We'd probably let Sissoko go for around £5m i'd guess. Winks, maybe £10m?

The issue isn't the fee's it's the wages. We are all currently slamming Kane saying he's under contract and we can keep him etc etc. Same applies the other way. We can't physically force players out either. No one in Europe are going to pay Sissoko £80k a week. Winks is more doable, but he's at a Norwich Level if i'm being totally honest, and in Winks case i'm sure we are looking at closer to £20m fee seeing as he's English and still young.

It's a tough job moving these players..

Yeah but our incomings are not reliant on outgoings apparently, it's just complete coincidence that we wait until we shift someone before buying someone. We hear exactly the same thing every year, I'm amazed anyone is still taken in by it.

If as suggested there is an upcoming fire sale of deadwood (excuse the pun), then it will only be harder for us to shift ours on. The deadwood that has some marketability have decided they want to stick it out and make a career at Spurs (Sanchez and Winks). No one is lining up for Doherty, which suggests a rational market, and Aurier comes with relatively big wages and the “Aurier” factor. That pretty much leaves us with Sissoko who I’m surprised hasn’t been picked up, the most likely hometown market in France is broke outside of PSG. Haven’t seen anything about the club wanting to offload Ndombele but again I’d be staggered if there are any buyers or options without us accepting a serious bath.

the challenge over the next week will be strengthening while being creative about the levels of discount we are going to have to accept or the arms we are going to have to twist (Winks and Doherty) to shed some of these guys.

I dont think Fab is the issue, its whether Levy is still the one is sanctioning the sales (always looking for more out of the deals).

See Fab starting to get some pelters!
Too many fans had unrealistic expectations of us having money without selling Harry Kane and others. It's no different to other years. I'm sure something will happen before the end of the window but it has hallmarks of a late kane sale and not being able to bring in a decent replacement written all over it.

Re Romario it was obvious he wasn't some Italian paratici fan boy. He got so worked up when others were saying about dejavu it could only be a previous poster from here

Our biggest mistake was giving players like Winks and Sissoko new contracts, this club has been so poorly run and it's going to take years to sort out.

Way too much rubbish in our squad for us to be competitive anytime soon. We are going into this season with squad players like Moura and Berg now being first 11 players. We are in big trouble.

I've got alot of sympathy for Paratici though, it's clear he knows how to get complicated deals done, the Romero deal wasn't simple.

I'm pissed that the Kane saga has gone on this long, it's a delicate balancing act because until we know for sure if he's staying or going that drastically changes incomings. Paratici probably had a list, first list being realistic signings on a budget if we keep Kane, second list being a higher calibre of players in the same positions should we get £160m for Kane.

He's probably juggling multiple deals right now unable to pull the trigger until this Kane shit is resolved.

Kane staying or going literally could change so many deals and the calibre of player we are trying to bring in.

Deadline needs to be in the next day or 2 regarding Kane so we know where we stand and can sort our own business out.

We've been steadily rebuilding for a few years now, but still, getting rid of old players isn't easy. Clubs are getting smarter, and we don't have clubs like Hull and Stoke fighting to pay over the odds for players we want to get rid of. All clubs are struggling with the same. Arsenal had to pay out huge contracts last year just to get players out the fucking door.

Aurier, Sissoko and Doherty are the current albatrosses around our neck, whereas Kane, Son, Lloris and Lucas still add value.

We have done dumb stuff in the past (that new Sissoko contract being absolutely insane), and it will probably take more time to potentially tidy up. Just have to do less dumb stuff, basically.

No, we aren’t. We’re just a bit average.

The reason the Kane saga is dragging on is because the board have allowed it to.

The thing people need to work out is why the board would allow it to.

It's not rocket science.

But if we are only expecting fees like 5m or 10m for our deadwood, why are our incomings dependent on players leaving then?? Its not as if we can do much with 10m these days...
I dont even think its the salaries either, not having Toby, Bale, Rose or Lamela on the books now surely means our overall salary number is lower than last year.

Why was he banned? Was nice and made a change to have someone so positive.
He wasn’t genuine.
He was a previous poster who had been banned, and then created a new account.
Brings into question whether anything he said about Paratici was in any way factual.
Which is a big shame.

No bueno
