I thought we were the only club with a wage bill less than 50 percent of our turn over?

That wage bill is well out of date. Luton only pay a total of 60k a week. Rubbish. Just made it up

They’ve spent a lot more money than people realise. Eddie Howe keeps playing down their spending but he’s spent a lot. Isak, Botman, Guimaraes, Tonali, Livramento, Gordon.

None of them have been cheap.
About 300m in total. Nearly all have been good buys

Simon Bird in the Mirror speculates in his opinion piece that Almiron is going to be around the 30m mark - which is close to his transfermarkt value anyway. So anything above that is inflated, right?

They don't have too many players that can raise the sort of funds they would need to improve. Selling players like Guimaraes or Isak (their top two on transfermarkt; 85m & 70m) leaves them needing to replace those with players of a similar level as well as add to the squad.

Gordon is third on the list and I doubt they'd sell him. Sven Botman is 4th at 45m. The next five most valuable players are injured or suspended, and Almiron is next.
Saudi government have told the club to buy him from Newcastle. Tell me I’m wrong.
At current prices he is nowhere near 30m Almost 30, runs round like a madman and after his good spell last season, doesn’t score many goals.

The one buying him isn't one of the 4 owned by Saudi govt. Although, nor is Newcastle, wink wink, nudge nudge

according to transfermarkt his value has dropped from 35m to 30m since March last year - I guess that's the end of his run of decent form.

Nov 2022-March 2023 his value rose from 20m to 35m.

if we got rid of ND that would save us 10 mil a year that’s mad his 1 tenth of our wages, I’m guessing his not included as his on loan. The key to success is buy young players on low wages if they are not good enough you can sell or stomach it. The big earners are a problem

last game we had

nd on loan
Ivan injured
Son away
dire ill
Maddison injured
loris had just gone

these 6 players prob account for over half our wage bill

obvs Son, Maddison are worth it and Ivan was unlucky.

Those seem wildly low. United and city's are over 300m

Newcastle's wage are 75% of their turnover according to Deloitte for last season. I make that 216m euros. whereas ours are 46% of 631m so 290m euros. Newcastle's is completely unsustainable and they need both commercial and matchday to dramatically increase just to keep the current contracts paid!

Re the figures above I am sure Newcastle are not the only club living beyond their means but look at these figures taken directly from Newcastle's published accounts'

2003 accounts , average crowd 49,000 , home match receipts £32.7 million, total wage bill £41.1 million
2023 accounts average crowd 52,000 , home match receipts £37.9 million, total wage bill £186.6 million

Nobody wants to pay high ticket prices but if you want to pay players a wage of millions then fans have got to make a contribution, we certainly do at Spurs.

ps Just allowing for inflation, Newcastle match receipts compared to 2003 should now be about £57.2 million

Not going to plan for the Saudi's, qualifying for the champions league made it look as though they were going to steamroll to success, but losing Dan Ashworth and not taking PSR as serious as they should, shows its going to be a long old road
